Default Suggestions for Delivery Company?

My wife is setting up a small business selling organic things (non perishable) and we are looking around for a delivery company. Not that heavy or bulky, but the post-office seems very expensive.

Any suggestions? There appear to be quite a few around like these people: https://www.myhermes.co.uk/wps/portal/PN_CTR/ but would like some personal experience if anyone has any ..

Thanks,

Steve

Never used Hermes but their prices look very competitive and I think they would be hard to match. But 3-5 days is slow these days but that may not be a problem for you. Check if parcels are covered by some insurance.

I do have a pal who sells fish food and he found a company that are cheaper for local deliveries. Can find out if you are mostly doing local.

Good luck with business. d

A lot depends on what actual service you want and how many items you send out.
The more you send the better the rate you will get.

I have an account with my local APC depot, and its all next day delivery, they don't do slower services.

Put your postcode in on the website to find your local depot and then give them a call.

I doubt apc are going to be of use if the post office is looking too pricey for the OP, they are not known for being cheap!

£6 for 20kg delivered next day, signed and tracked is not expensive in my opinion.

I don't want a 3 to 5 day service from a courier company, I want Next Day, and that's what I get for a very reasonable amount.

you can pay 50% less for a next day service for higher weight, APC's tracking is archaic a positive for them is customer service is normally good, sorting out problems, OP wants cheap!

I used myhermes a lot, and never had any issues and they are very competitive, but im told if anything does go wrong their claims process is a nightmare. it never did go wrong for me though luckily.

Knock knock

"who's there"

"yodel, have a package for you but you were out when we called. please phone our 0845 number and tryto find out what we did with it"

That seems to be the reputation there.

If it is only one or two things once in a while then I'd stick with parcel2go. Just had an ebay package picked up by TNT for next day delivery and only booked it this afternoon.

5t.

Thank you for your help. I guess we will go with MyHermes to start with and see what happens.

Website here: http://www.jonatural.com/ if anyone wants a play, it still needs to be skinned properly and it is all 'girly' products anyway!
