What is the point of that type of styling? Is it based on something? I've seen others like it before but really don't understand it.
To me it just seems extremely over the top, for the sake of being over the top.

Same could be said for the extreme "Euro" style and fake "Rat look" style that gets inflicted to all VAG cars these days.
