mobile phone help
ok people, ive currently got a blackberry (which is ****e) on tesco mobile contract which i have over a year on the contract to run..now ive been offered an iphone for £80 (brother-in-laws) and im wondering if i can put my sim into it and use it or not.
im not sure which iphone it is and im aware that the iphone 4 onwards has a micro sim, would my provider be able to switch my current remaining contract onto a micr sim for me if required? i did try to ask tesco over the phone but i saw my **** whith the stupid woman on the other end who kept asking what error i was getting when i turn my blackberry on???
thanks all

Not sure if this helps. I took on my daughters iphone 3gs and my old sim fitted perfectly.
I got her the iphone 4s and she needed a micro sim, but apparently the iphone 4 takes an ordinary sim. Phew, hope that makes sense
Oops, apparently you need micro sim for the 4 too. Can't see why your provider would have a problem with changing your sim

As long as the phone is unlocked and the sim fits, the provider has no idea what phone the sim is actually stuck in....... I've kept the same Sim and had it in several phones over the years and it now currently resides in an old iphone 3 LOL

I'd be wary of cutting the card by scissors, it has to be done right or the card won't work.
Either buy a cutter ( stapler) made for the job or nip in to an independant mobile phone shop and they'll do it for you there and then

I got Vodafone to swap my standard sim for a micro sim mid contract. They did it in store for me and even copied the contacts for me with no issues, I don't see why tesco's won't do the same, they don't really care as long as you pay the bills in my experience.

Nokia 710 bought a month ago has micro sim - the blurb said microsd slot
- bit late by the time he unpacked it in the shop , a right con - we should have taken it back i think really ( impossible to fit a local sim in zambia where we were for a month , without scissors )

Actually I think he'd be quite offended by that. He himself acknowledges that he only likes them because Apple products are so good. So he's not doing it because he's a fanboi, but because he has no choice.

For £80 I assume it's a 3G or maybe 3GS which is about the right price so the sim card will fot it there
My misses got my old 3GS and sim just slots in but you will need to check the data package as my misses payg sim lost a quid a day on data to we got it changed
She now has a £6 a month data package like me and we use only a couple of quids with of calls a month if that
Ifs it's a 4 which is doubtful for £80 you just get tesco to send out a mini sim

Not all sim cards are identical in respect of the metal contact section that the phone reads from. Do it wrong and you run the risk that the phone won't work. Have a look at some sim cards and you'll see the important bits aren't the same for all cards.
