Yes but let's not let facts get in the way of a good anti Catholic rant.

If we keep going they could very soon cement themselves a clear second place behind the Muslims on the list of most stereotyped religions by the UK media and more importantly the SN NSR massive

Have you actually studied this? If you have, and you wish to be taken seriously, I'll respond. Let me know.

Actually, it really could be the way to go.

NK don't appear (to my knowledge at least) to have any religious fanatics trying to blow their citizens up in the name of some fictional deity.

Though ironically in this Stalinist state, his people believed the last supreme leader was a form of deity, born on top of Korea's highest mountain under a double rainbow and when he died, there was a strange glow on the same mountain followed by a cracking of the ice on a frozen lake and a snow storm.

Dawkins does a good job of insisting scientism ought to be followed unquestionably, too.

They might not blow up their own citizens in the name of a fictional deity, but they've got no qualms about throwing them in prison without trial or shooting them outright on the spot, in the name of a fictionally deified leader. Nor for that matter about blowing up the citizens of other countries, or smuggling large quantities of heroin and other narcotics into them, or flooding them with counterfeit currency into the bargain, etc, etc.

Other than that, they're a perfectly balanced and rational bunch of chaps

No, just fanatics threatening to blow entire countries up in the name of an actual deified leader.

It's mandatory isn't it? Certainly helps to have it on the C.V.

Not defending the RC church in the slightest.

Any person in a position of trust who abuses that trust a child has in him is scum, be that a priest, vicar, rabbi, iman, policeman, teacher or scout master.

I thought you could not actually become a scout master, unless you demonstrated a prior history of abuse

So, human rights issues aside, not in the name of a religion then?

Wrong, this still misses the point. The Jong Ils have become a fully-fledged substitute religion in their own right, which is more ruthlessly and arbitrarily enforced (by far) than most of the more traditional religions that you're probably alluding to.

Do people believe that the religions which are being castigated actually encourage their followers to take part in pederasty? Do you not realise that sort of behaviour is regarded as a heinous offence by the religion concerned and those who do that sort of thing have set themselves completely at odds with the teachings of that religion?

That sort of disgusting and shameful behaviour is always down to the individual who is guilty of such offences against decent and correct behaviour. It means that he personally has gone against the basic religious teaching of the religion and he is completely to blame for that. There is no way that can be blamed on the religion and its teachings.

Those who commit such offences, and also those members of the hierarchy who try to cover it up in an effort to save embarrassment are personally absolutely to blame and should take full responsibility and any punishment that is going from whatever source. The blame should be shouldered by the individual concerned.

It is really not too difficult to work out that those who commit such crimes are the ones at fault, not a religion which forbids such behaviour in the first place.

It is also worth remembering that pederasty is committed by people across the entire human race so it is unfair to blame it all on religion anyway. The person who did it is the one who is to blame of course.

Les
