In light of the forthcoming F1 season...
And my pathological hatred of that phone hacking, animated corpse, Rupert Murdoch, leaves me with a problem.
I could very easily watch F1 on sky, I have access to the channel and the means to watch it, but thats not the point. If I watch on his channel, I will be adding to his viewing figures and his justification for making people pay for it.
As such, I will not watch F1 on Sky. Under any circumstances.
So I look to you, good people of scoobynet, for ideas to get one over on him and watch all the races live too.
So far I have come up with, buying a dish from B&Q (around £25) and tuning it to 19.2E and look for RTL Deutshland. Free to air coverage until 2015. I plan to use www.dishpointer.com for help positioning the dish if I have trouble, but does anyone know of any way of getting the channel online? The only reason I ask is I'd prefer not to have a dish on the side of my place.
Any help will be appreciated, not to mention not having to line the pockets of the most morally bankrupt man in britain!

You'll struggle to to get 19.2 with out a proper satellite meter.
F1 will be defo online but how long it stays online before it gets cut is a different matter

I've seen a video that someone posted - might be on youtube but not sure.
He'd bought a cheapo dish and box from some DIY store for like £50 and managed to point the dish at the RTL sat and then had Radio 5 Live on for the commentary.
Worked really well - think you can do it HD too. So to answer your question it can be done and the results are satisfactory.
I was going to do this but as we have Sly and have HD its not going to cost anymore than we pay now.

In fairness, I didn't watch one race in full or live last season. As much as I have loved F1 for a great many years, it just sends me to sleep these days. The cars are too good, easy to drive and level on performance apart from whoever has the one good idea at the start of each season, the tracks too sanitised (especially the newer circuits which are all DULL), and the drivers all a bit too boring. Even the odd nutty moment from Hamilton usually ends in a ****-up, leaving you wondering why he bothered. With fuelling strategies no longer a part it's all down to tyre wear, and it produces too little difference. Apart from a place gained or lost at the start, a bodged pit-stop, or an error of some sort, it's just follow my leader for 1.5 hours. My interest has totally waned, so I aren't bothered that Sky has the contract as I certainly wouldn't dream of paying to watch it.

Option 1 : How To Watch Formula 1 Without Sky in 2012 online
For the races not being broadcast live on BBC1, go online and find a tv channel from abroad that shows the F1 races live that enables you to watch their channel on live stream. There are lots of ways you can do this online for free, legally. I suggest German, Spanish or French tv channels, but you might wish to find channels in other languages.
Next, turn down the sound and then switch on Radio 5 live. Basically, you are now watching the race picture live via the internet, with live commentary from the radio in English.

Not watching on sky will do one thing and one thing only - make watching F1 more difficult for you.
If you have access to the channel, that suggests you have Sky in which case you are already lining his pockets?

There are plenty of places to stream live sports. Not ideal, but free if that's what you're after. Me personally, i'll just watch highlights and then the live ones on regular TV.

If it's purely for not increasing the viewing figures (by 1 lol) then I was always under the impression they weren't done on actual figures anyway, just on a sample of users who had a modified box that tracked their viewing and then that percentage was taken from total users? That's certainly what used to happen anyway, so you may as well watch it at home in HD!
