Went to Old Orleans in the Oracle centre in Reading last night for a friends birthday.

The starters (most of us had Nachos) were fine but the main courses were rank. The chicken burgers were very chewy, not cooked properly and quite a few had hard bits of gristle in, the lettuce in the burgers was mostly brown and my ribs were very dry and rock hard, like that had been on a hot plate staying warm for a good few hours.

Spoilt an otherwise nice evening. I did complain, and they said "oh, we are sorry about that sir" and carried on their business. Nice !

Going to the London St. Brasserie tonight - a stone's throw away. It's a 2nd date so I hope it's a bit better

Sorry to hear of your dodgy meal.

I've eaten in a couple of "Old Orleans", one was far better than the other. Personally, I'd write a letter of complaint to them, they are a big chain and will no doubt compensate you for your poor food. Don't know where you live, but the one in Lakeside is very good, had some lovely red snapper in there.

Don't be so British ! Kick up a fuss !

I totally agree. I had a bowl of chips there once loaded with chili, I thought it would be great but it was the worst meal I have ever had. The burgers were like old leather.

YUCK!

Had the same expierence in the Reading one a couple of years ago. Obviously hasn't improved then. Wasn't too bothered about the low quality of the main meal, it was the fact that they tried to charge us all a fortune for long island ice tea's that were basically coke (and I mean coke, you couldn't taste any spirits at all).
After whinging for about 1/2 an hour be got the drinks free. They obviously try it on to see what they can get away with. I'd managed to completely sober up by the time we left.
Anyway, the one in Ealing Broadway is brilliant. Never going to the one in Reading again though.

If you are in Reading, the ONLY place to go is Sweeney Todds!

Great atmosphere, cheap food, good ale, and sawdust on the floor - what more could you ask for

London St Brasserie update: the food was fantastic - £50 a head though with wine so it ought to be.

Quick Q: they don't have CCTV in any of the parks do they? :-o
