Why the fukc did the case make it to court at our expense?
How kind of the judge.
The ruling means the council must, at least temporarily, lay on support workers to help the woman wash herself, cook and clean her flat and to accompany her to the shops.
The judge stopped short of ordering the council to provide chaperones when the woman attends the gym, her weight management programme or Friday night discos.

Leave her to it ffs, some people get nothing due to people like her, the rest of us have to pay to keep her, she isn't contributing just taking and it is mainly her own fault and the welfare state for pandering to her every whim.

Some consolation in the closing paragraph at least:
"Stressing that he was in no way pre-judging the issues in the case, the judge said the council's position "may ultimately be vindicated".
The full hearing of the woman's case is now expected to take place in May this year."
While we're on the subject, don't forget to set your PVRs, digiboxes, or other televisual recording equipment for this next week:

• Despite her plea that she cannot use a washing machine or tumble drier without help, she is able to operate "far more complex equipment" - including a computer and games console.
• She has proved herself able to buy alcohol, cigarettes and IT equipment - whilst claiming that "extreme paranoia" prevents her going out to buy food unaccompanied.
• She has proved herself able to buy alcohol, cigarettes and IT equipment - whilst claiming that "extreme paranoia" prevents her going out to buy food unaccompanied.
• Her difficulties in getting out of bed are due to a "lack of motivation"
• She managed to attend, by herself, a "The Wanted" concert in April last year, whilst claiming that she could not walk to her local shops or go out in public without a chaperone.
• She managed to attend, by herself, a "The Wanted" concert in April last year, whilst claiming that she could not walk to her local shops or go out in public without a chaperone.
Her legal team says the council must also provide staff to accompany her when out shopping, when she goes to the gym or "weight management" classes - and even when "she goes to a disco on Friday nights"
Her barrister, Irena Sabic, said she has a history of self-harm and drug overdoses and her care needs were recognised by the council until May last year, when "direct payments" - enabling her to live in a supported home - were withdrawn.
Why has the judge not thrown the case out already?

Lie in bed eating.
Perhaps if they HAD to get up and fetch their own food, then they might lose a few pounds in the process.

My 91 year old grandad who is going blind, has Prostate cancer was initially denied a £60 a week attendants allowance to pay for people to do things he can no longer do, like driving, doing the garden etc, after a few letters they finally relented. This is a man who worked from 16 to 65, served on Minesweepers and Corvettes in the war, got shot at etc and he has to battle to get a few quid to help him as age finally creeps up on him.
Compare and contrast with the pathologically lazy and feckless like this dollop that throw themselves on the mercy of the state because they are so fooked from over eating, now I am not perfect but I make an effort, I cycled the seven miles to work this morning at 7am and will pay the best part of two grand a month in stoppages.
The problem is you end up sounding like Hitler if you say sorry, your bollocksed, the whole system is founded on keeping people going indefinitely, life is sacred and all that and I support that but as individuals I think we need to take more responsibility for ourselves, me included and there needs to be a point where you get left to it.

If you pull the plug the news stories will be all about how the system failed theses poor barstards.
Its already started now with tales of overcrowding in council flats because they are no longer getting £1m a week mansions.
We are a population need to take a stand and not be sucked in and made to feel guilty when we read the flip side to these "drain on resource" stories.

My remark wasn't a criticism, just laughing at the irony. But I completely agree with you, why should hard working taxpayers subsidise the lifestyle of these lazy parasitic people who feel that is is their god given right to be entitled such benefits and be allowed to contribute the squareroot of **** all rather than take responsibility for their own predicament.

The problem isn't entirely that she is fat, it's that she is the sort of person who was probably always destined to milk the pathetic benefits system that we have. The fact here to me, is that she is lazy/mental and quite possibly getting fat is just a consequence of that. She is capable of using a computer/console, she can get out to a concert unaided, but she can't use her washer or go and get some shopping....Basically, she is able to do what she wants to do, but all of a sudden can't manage with anything more like a task than something enjoyable.
Obviously I don't know the woman, but taking the article at face value, it seems like the council for once have somebody sussed out. It's just a shame that a judge may not see sense.
