Default Kudos to Ed Miliband

I'm not a Labour supporter, but it is refreshing to see an opposition leader actually speak some sense and not give in to unions or to populist opinion that you must oppose whatever is unpopular.

To say he is not against the cuts in spending was a brave thing to do, and he could easily have gone the other way and explained how vicious and draconian and unnecessary the measures are, but instead he was actually telling it as it is and not making promises he cannot keep.

The sad thing is that I suspect he'll lose more support over it than he gains since realism and Labour Party supporters do not mix (especially when Labour is in opposition) which is a shame, but perhaps, just perhaps, the electorate will actually be able to listen to a proper debate come election time.

Am I alone in this one?

Anyone that said that the cuts were not needed would just look like an idiot trying to get votes from people that just don't understand the problems we are in.

Ed really does seem like a complete muppet. His brother was a much better option for the labour party. They will not be taken seriously until they get rid of Ed. Fact.

The worm has turned!

He goes from constantly point scoring against the opposition to finally admitting that cuts have to be made. First bit of common sense I've heard from him.

Looks like 'honesty is the the new Red' in Labour's PR camp. Still wouldn't vote for him though.

Labour is trying to capture middle England at the expense of the Unions. Lets see what happens when their contributions to the Labour party dry up.

A fairer and more accurate analysis might look a bit like this...

Conservatives spend a bit less - and public services fall apart
Labour come in and spend too much on the falling apart public services
Conservatives return....and spend a bit less - and public services fall apart
Labour returns....spend too much on the falling apart public services
Conservatives return....and spend a bit less and public services fall apart
Labour returns....spend too much on the falling apart public services

Ed Milliband with only ever be Leader of the opposition, he will never be PM.

Labour made a massive mistake in 'electing' him.

He's still a muppet. Just shows he has not got a backbone to stand boldly upon his convictions. Look up the word "weak", you'll find his name there. Now his brother on the other hand.........

Except you have to differentiate between spending and investing. In the 80's the Tories spent a fortune...................on unemployment benefit.

As ever his stance will be a despairing politically inspired attempt to get some kind of personal support from somewhere, or anywhere for that matter.

I think he has shot his bolt and demonstrated that he will never have the personality or personal strength to lead a political party.

Of course if Scotland does a runner (which I doubt will ever happen) then Labour are doomed as they lose around 40 Labour MPs giving Tories a clear field.

To gain some momentum then I suggest Millipede should support the third airport (the Boris one) but say it should be built in the Chilterns. Plenty of space, nice views as you come into land, no labour supporters to upset and by the time it's built then high speed access to all the fabulous places in the UK, like Birmingham

The man takes me back to my primary school days. He's like a primary school head teacher during assembly addressing all the pupils. He would never have kudos, they chose the wrong brother!

after watching todats parlimentary hour

i just cannot beleive how this country is run,

so many mp,s out of touch, uneducated and simply tit for tat attitude.

its a real shame this is how we choose to run the country with shouting, slaggin tit for tat smack talking?
they show they have no real interest in the overall good of the nation but prefer instead to spend ther time belittleing each others polices, not working for the best of the people.

how can this sytem ever ever work, as all parties are equally as bad.

i dont support any of the inadequate parties jst now, howbever d.c did come across a bit better than the rest, but thats not talk, not real life, a few of his answers to half decent questions were just basically ingored.
im gobsmacked this is how things are discussed tbh, what a fcking shambles, the whole system needs updating and the current practices binned to the history books,

work together to help the people of thi country, not indulge in consatnd slagging matches 'millibad cant even perform a proper u-turn' who give a fck.

these people are so far detacthced from reality. im no party positive but milliband seemed to loose big time today, in the game they call running the country.
and thats just the words, not the reality of what actually happens.

change it all, entirley

You're not far from the truth! He was the best candidate to ensure that labour remains unelectable and he's doing a great job at that.
