Default First time eBay user. Question...

Hi, I advertised my sofas on eBay last week. I have a reserve price in mind which I would like them to reach before allowing them to sell. However, when I set the listing up I do not recall seeing any option to put in a reserve but I did put a Buy-It-Now which I hoped would hint at what I would be prepared to take for them.
Confusingly, as soon as the first bid went in, the Buy-It-Now option disappeared.
Now we are 3 days away from the end of the auction and I have two bids which have taken it up to £51 (the second bid was a pound more than the first). The point is that I want no less than £150 for these sofas and I'm concerned that all the watchers may only take it slightly higher than now during the final minutes of the listing..
I've also received countless emails requesting Buy-It-Now price.

I realise I can't insert a Buy-It-Now from here. What's the best thing to do?

Thanks,

Nick

Furniture and the like on ebay go for next to nothing and from my experience, even without seeing your sofa set, you'll probably find it hard to make 150, but it's worth a go I suppose.

end the listing stating that the item is no longer available then relist it with a reserve (its where you put your starting bid amount).

As said by others tho, unless its nearly new or something very special then you're not going to see £150 as you'd need to sell it for £165 to cover the selling fee (10%).

Ebay amazes me sometimes. I sold an old tatty leather settee that was in the kids playroom for years, I advertised it as tatty and showed photos of the worn arms etc. But I sold it for £300 cash to a woman who wanted it for student digs.

I'm being a bit thick here.. I've ended the aution and selected "relist" from the automated email I had. Now I'm in the process of editing the list but I still can't see how to set a "Reserve".
This is all very convoluted.

bah i hate people who do that...
if you list it and it goes for **** all then let it run and take the hit and learn
i have in the past..

there is the chance that'll it go mad in the last few mintues also..
ive been close to selling stuff for stupidly low prices for it to go mad and get what i was hoping for in the last 5 minutes

as for reserve price imsure its on the payment page bit, same area as the buy it now price etc

i think when you look at the price options ther is a auction price or fixed price, so click on one of those and see your options.

You need to select online auction button to set a reserve. As for the buy it now disappearing once bidding starts, that`s the way it works. Once bids start the option is no longer available. If you can`t find / suss the reserve setting, start the bidding at just below your reserve price.

Sorry but we're new to eBay and found the whole experience of listing the items quite complicated. Have now withdrawn it (with 3 days to go I might add) and found that we should have used the Advanced Listing form in order to place a Reserve..

As it's our first go, if this generates negative feedback then we haven't really lost reputation as such as there is no track record. I would just create a new account having learned from this.
Taking a potentially expensive hit isn't an option in this case
Thanks for your link btw

aye i know it wasnt really aimmed at your asuch, just a general annoyance
i can see what people mean about Furniture btw, i got a table and chairs for £40 the other day heh

makes a change to the usual bad experiences i get with fleabay
one person was selling some mint comic or something to my brother, looked mint in the pics, but it went for a few quid instead of what it was worth
so the bloke made sure that when it arrived it wasnt mint, rolled it up, bent pages over, tore a few bits etc...

You need to have a reserve set, then the BIN stays until the reserve is met. If no reserve, the BIN goes as soon as the item has bids.
