Car Insurance
Guy's it's probably been asked before but here goes.....
My daughter passed her test on Wednesday and where now looking for a car for her and just thought if any one know's of a decent motor insurance company who won't charge the earth.
She's 22 and is looking at a Pug 206 05 plate.
Thanks in advance for the help

You may need to chose the car to suit the insurers. Colleague of mine was about to give up driving because his 206 (plain model not GTi or whatever) was so much to insure, but he's now realised other cars are fine. When looking at first cars for my lass (27) recently, a Yaris was the cheapest to insure, but we were only looking at Jap stuff. We went for a Civic in the end. We used Go Compare which is pretty easy to change the car and requote and see what difference it makes.

Contact a local broker he'll tell you what sort of car to look for.

My son and daughter are both with Admiral at the moment. My son is 21 and driving an Alfa Giulietta 1.4 Multiair and my daughter is 19 driving a Mini One. IIRC both premiums were around £800. My daughter was with Direct Line last year (her first year after passing her test) which cost about £1300, but her renewal (with no claims, accidents or points) went up to £1800.
My son was driving my old Ford Focus 1.8 - we did look at transfering it to him and getting him insurance on it, but the quotes were around the £3.5K mark on a car worth not much more than that. In the end we left it on a fleet policy via my company where it was costing around £200 (which wasn't fronting because it was a genuine "any driver" fleet policy).
The Giulietta is interesting as the Multiair is a turbocharged engine capable of 180 bhp (when switched to dynamic mode) but insurance was the same as the standard 1.4 version (which is much slower and has worse fuel economy). Definitely worth getting some insurance quotes before you decide on the car as sometimes the premiums can seem perverse.

When my kids passed tests they were allowed to use my old 205 TD and my wife's Ford KA and were named on policy. Cost around £300 extra all told. I even got business use for my son for part time work.
Now they have moved out they are on their own but insurance should be cheaper as they get older.
Liverpool & Victoria.
IMHO these on-line companies are a joke when it comes to kid's insurance.
