Not only have a never seen the film this was taken from I also never knew Charlie Chaplin did speaking rolls, this must be one of the greatest monologues I have ever heard and really is powerfull stuff, it's also a great lesson in acting from the master of silent films!
Enjoy!

Nice sentiment, well written, stirring delivery, but rhetorical and ideological and replete with propaganda statements. Also, the imagery's the product of an uneducated mind. Would be much more powerful as audio only and ironic that a filmmaker who wishes to promote a monologue, the essence of which is freedom of conscience, is attempting to tell you what to think via suggestion. Thanks for sharing.

Was that actually Chaplin?
Interesting but still a "take up arms for peace" philosophy.
I'll stay with the "I had a dream" speech as top of my list.

If President Lincoln had chosen passivity and employed a philosophy of moral and cultural relativism in the face of The Confederacy, Dr. king's speech would not be.

Greatest Speeches
Other great speech makers Obama, Hitler as mentioned, and McCain after he lost the US election.

I love the juxtaposition between Colonel Tim Collins wonderful speech and his opposite number in the US armed forces, on the eve of the invasion of Iraq in 2003
Tim Collins
It starts
“We go to Iraq to liberate not to conquer. We will not fly our flags in their country. We are entering Iraq to free a people and the only flag which will be flown in that ancient land is their own. Show respect for them.
There are some who are alive at this moment who will not be alive shortly. Those who do not wish to go on that journey, we will not send. As for the others I expect you to rock their world. Wipe them out if that is what they choose. But if you are ferocious in battle remember to be magnanimous in victory.”
And carries on in the same well crafted vein for several minutes
US Vice-Admiral Timothy Keating
It start (it ends)
"Make no mistake, when the President says `Go', look out, it's hammer time. OK, it is hammer time".

There was little substance and the speaker did not need to give anything of himself, and the speech made no commitment to anything.
King was far better; also JFK.

Finally got to watch it - unlike JT I quite enjoyed the imagery, but thought the speech shallow and the delivery was OK but it didn't move me particularly.

One of the best sporting battle cries ever.
"I am now going to tell him (Herrera) how Celtic will be the first team to bring the European Cup back to Britain. But it will not help him in any manner, shape or form: we are going to attack as we have never attacked before. Cups are not won by individuals, but by men in a team who put their club before personal prestige. I am lucky - I have the players who do just that for Celtic"
