....if you are thick as **** like me!

I am having a serious annoyance with the Alfa(shock!) over a knocking noise. Having invested heavily in tools to do work myself rather than handing it over to my brilliant yet always snowed under mechanic, I am now fooked off as I can't find where the location of the knocking is coming from.

I need a heated garage too! My digits felt like fish fingers earlier.

PS. I still havent located the battery drain either but this little niggle is cracking me up either more so.

Heated garage - use the underground carpark at Victoria Square mate. Was out with the lads from work last night - temperature outside was -1 when heading back to the carpark, the car showed an outdoor temperature of 11 degrees when we got into it. £3.50 for overnight parking after 6 - sorted!!!!!

Battery drain - get the battery tested first - it may not be a drain - just unable to hold its charge.

Take car for a drive, ensure battery is charged to over 12V.

Put a multimeter across your battery, watch as the numbers drop - pull fuses one at a time, whichever fuse slows the rate of decharging, that is the cause of your drain.

Book it in at Alfa dealer or specialist for diagnosis only. When they tell you what's wrong tell them you can't afford at moment & fix it your self.

As advised, if it is losing its charge then you need to check for what might be causing a discharge with the ignition off. The method advised is as good as any.

Can't help over tracing the knock-you can only check the area for something thats loose.

In my experience, strange untraceable knocks almost always turn out to be worn anti roll bar drop links. Try removing the link from the corner your knock is coming from, and take it for a drive.

As for the battery drain, it's an Alfa, do I really need to say any more
