suposed downed us drone in iran
It it a fake?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-16103467
Theres def a drone gone down, but is this realy it?
Not a scratch on it, they claim thats because they brought it down by electronic warfare.
The wings look joined on with gaffa tape and not a smooth face (which would be on a stealth drone)
Iran have said 'we wont be reverse engineering it because we had our own two years ago'
There lots of expertas saying it doesn't look right, wrong dimesnions, wing are wrong shape at the end etc, some saying iran doesn;t have the electronic warfare cpabilities, some saying its not that hard.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011...tured-us-drone
Also this wouldn't be the first toime iran had faked suposed captured military tech before now, russian missiles a few years back.
http://defensetech.org/2010/04/19/ir...lded-together/
so what do folks think? real or fake

I think its real. Im not sure the US would admit to losing one of its drones if this hadnt come up, so it seems a little too convienient, especially as they claim they picked it up in the region it went missing.

Smart move would have been to embed the drone with virus/malware/backdoor and let the Iranians capture it and infect their own military systems. A genuine Trojan horse (or drone).

The aircraft isn't what anyone's interested in, it's the internal advanced sensor arrays that gather intel - China and Russia are getting ready to inspect the drone over the next few weeks.

Judging by the details of the OP, it sounds to me like Iran is acting like a child who has just been called a bad name, doesn't know what the name means, so is pretending it does in order to not look silly....
You're a ****
Oh....
Haha you don't even know what that means
Yeah I do I just don't want to say!

It would be possible to overpower the satellite flying commands with a strong enough radio signal provided they they were able to simulate the required demands.
The US say they have lost one anyway.
As was said above, the serious bit is the ability to investigate all the technology on the drone.

I'm surprised it didn't have a self-destruct command. Maybe the signal for that could be overpowered.
In which case it should have to respond to a ping every so often. No response and it explodes. Hard to see how such a system could be disabled in mid-air.
CIA please send your cheque to ...

Does look similar to this,
But a bit too home made in a crap sense of the term to be the real thing, maybe a copy of what came down.
But does look different to this,
Both are Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel Drones.
