ex girlfriend trouble
Hello all
Me and emma my ex girlfriend split up a few months ago now and its quite a messy break up. She left 2 of her cars in my garage as there both un insured taxed and mot'd. As she dont have no where to store them I said she can leave them there as long as she needs to.
Back in July 2010 emma took out a mobile phone contract for me. I have returned her phone and SIM card to her before we split up.
Emma sent me a text earlier saying that unless she gets her cars back she will take me to court and claim the money back even thou she has the car keys.
WIth the phone bill as stated she already has this back in her possession. But she's told me I have to pay for it even thou she's taken it back
Where do i stand legally?
Cheers all

Take her cars out of your garage. Park them on the road. Tell her, if she doesn't collect them within 24 hours, you will call the Police. She will then be charged for having two vehicles on a public road, without tax and insurance.
I am sure you will know someone who can remove the cars for you, without the keys

Is the phone contract in her name? Why would you have to pay a phone bill registered to her which you haven't been using?

~As for the phone bill. If it’s in your name, then your buggered as you are legally bound over the contract. If it’s in her name, then no issues at all don’t worry about it. ~ As for the cars, as said send her "well documented bill" for storage. If this fails to get the cars removed sell it onto a bailiff if you’re that way out. Personally I can’t see how relationships can get this sour so quickly, surely its both parties interests to resolve issues amicably.

If it is as messy as you say, write a letter stating you have been waiting for her to come and collect cars since she left. Agree a mutual date and time so she can collect the cars.
Also state that you have no phone contract in your name and any contract is her responsibility. Copy the letter and send it by special delivery.
Better still pay a solicitor £50 to write it for you, that will put the wind up her.

easy, as stated above. if the phones not in your name, then no problem there. if it is, get it back and cancel it.
regarding the cars, phone the ex and tell her they need to be collected by the weekend, or you will be leaving them at the side of the road....
job done.

Call the cops on her for harrassing you. She can't do you for "her" phone bill. End of.
Its possible that she did have to continue to pay for that phone that she didn't need, but it is tough luck. My son also had to continue to pay for his ex's bill, but dirrr..... he didn't have to take out a contract for her, did he?? Idiot. He didn't get into any bitter mess over things, remained mates with her, and quietly payed for two phones until the contract ran out. As you sow, so shall you reap.
