CostCo just gave me a refund for a TV a bought a while ago and I took the opportunity to buy a new Sony Bravia TV. That has iPlayer, 5OD and YouTube as well as the ability to stream from a NAS.
All in all I'm quite impressed.
Typing isn't too laborious and if you have an iPhone you can download an application to act as the remote and then typing is much easier. iPlayer still uses requires you to select each letter though.
The network streaming supports a limited number of formats.

We have just got a Sammy 3D Smart TV.
I have to say I'm very impressed.
There's absolutely loads in the Smart hub, and it plays stuff from my pc too as it's DLNA.
Just been watching Kylie in 3D too

Add a small media PC with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to any existing TV. I prefer Mac so it would be a Mac Mini for me, but I'm sure there's plenty running Windoze that will do the job...

No idea of what a good one would be, so let others advise on that.

Got a Sony one a month ago.
As stated you can get an app (IPhone / Android) to do the typing.
iPlayer / 5OD are pretty good.
Get LoveFilm on it too (3 month free subscription) - Quite impressed with that.
Youtube is hopeless!
Sony also doing cashback at the moment which makes it pretty good value (You get a visa card not cash - but meh)

Went down the smart bluray palyer and its great
Samsung BD5500 it can do iplayer etc, and far better than on the pc but has the advantage of being dnla compliant, so talks to serviio (media server) on the pc upstairs, and streams any format to the tv, xbox, mobile phone etc, all the panny plasma sees it as is a BD source (rgardless of what the actual content is)
new apps are being developed for it all the time, so it regularly updates with stuff

Buy a sammy or lg if media matters the most, panasonic are shocking in this regard.
As for a keyboard, mine came with a galaxy s wifi 5.0 so i just use that instead.
Not to mention i can stream anything from that, or my pc.
