Security advice - Garden
Want to improve the security at the back of the house
We have a fairly big back garden, it is pretty secure to three sides due to the hedges, not impossible to get through but difficult and involves going through other gardens, not possible if carrying something, well not easily so not too worried about that.
The house side has two access routes, one is blocked by a gate, my tip "pending" area and a shed so not easy to get past so that leaves the other side, one gate, unsecured and its a bit knackered, it has a latch you have to reach over to get, its about 5 ft high and not very strong so would like to improve the security by making a new gate which is between the fence and the side of the house.
So, after some tips as want it to be strong, not warp and have a good method to open it for us but it be hard to get past for anyone else, wouldn't mind it auto closing as well.
So, any ideas, are those code locks any good, I like the idea but want something that is easy to open if carrying something, anyone tried those biometric fingerprint locks or is that potentially just over complicating it ?

The best £500 we ever spent on security was on a big spiky wrought iron side gate, with particular emphasis on the spikes. Stick on a decent padlock and it will at least make people think twice about climbing over.
Cheers Steve, not sure I want to spend £500, want to make it myself as well but I think making it uncomfortable/difficult to climb is the way forward, need to be able to let the window cleaner round to pretend to clean the windows as well

Its winter time FFS.... men should be men and stay in the warm and bulk up on our blubber levels just in case there's an electricity strike over Christmas.... if you really need to go outside send the missus or the kids...
Blubber levels are good thanks DCI, after a weekend involving my brothers wedding and a night with jackos mate they are quite high !
Just after some tips, no room for a Moat (Raoul or otherwise) so need to make a new gate, think Burgers suggestion was the most useful, not had any issues but want to avoid anyone going round there, dont want my man shed raiding !
