Gone to the dark side. Iphone to HTC Desire S
Had an iphone and found it too small after getting an ipad.
Been using an old nokia for ages but missed having a good camera on me all the time.
Dont need blackberry, didnt want cost of iphone so thought lets try htc.
No feedback yet as not had chance to get it out of the box.
Good decision or is jackclark going to hunt me down and torture me?

I like the HTC range, when my iPhone 4 comes up for renewal next year I'm going to be having a very close look at the Android range including HTC.
Jack has already tracked you by your IP address and is closing in as I type, I think he's going to use Bamboo slivers forced under the fingernails to start.
Make sure as well that you get a Welsh Rugby case protector as well.

You're torturing yourself by buying an unsupported phone, well, only a few months to go. Real Android users insist on Samsung hardware, have a look in Computer Related, they're discussing cases like a bunch of women choosing a new skirt. And it's the Apple users that are supposed to be metrosexual.

The HTCs are good but I got bored of Sense and decided to change to the Galaxy S for better internal storage, that then changed to a Galaxy S2 when renewed. Couldn't go back to a non amoled screen after having the galaxy. At least the choice is there.

Yes, but an Iphone would have thickened the casserole, seasoned it to perfection and recommended a perfect Cabernet Sauvignon to go with it, Siri would have regaled you and your guests with devastating repartee like an electronic Stephen Fry type Raconteur.

The Desire S is a small phone too. The HD is bigger and can be had pretty cheap. Screen is better on the S, the HD has slightly more internal memory and a better camera. The HD is an older model than the S. The Sensation is HTC's current flagship Android phone in the UK.
I currently have the HD and it's a great phone. Was OK with standard Orange software, but flys now I've ditched that and gone for a custom ROM.
I would say try before you buy to see if you like the interface. It can be changed if you don't though.
Edit: Just read again, you've already got the phone. In that case enjoy playing about with it, the S is a good phone. If your interested in unlocking, overclocking and all that stuff check out the XDA forum for it here. If not, just enjoy the phone as it is.
I'm a little let down by the new Nexus, no SD card slot, no Gorilla glass and the screen shares sub pixels so won't be as crisp as the Galaxy SII screen. I'll have to try one before I make my mind up on them.

i've both, my own i phone and a brand new works htc.
hate the htc, find it a pig to use, to text, email on etc.
its like caveman technology compared to an iphone. I don't even have a new i phone, its a 3GS.

I have had my Desire S for 5 months now and I really do like it.
I had a Blackberry 8900 Curve before, which, although it was great for work emails and making calls, it was ****e at everything else.
I haven't had any issues with my Desire S so far. The only slight gripe is the battery life. But as I have a USB charge cable connected to me work pc, it never runs out.
I suppose I get about 36 hours of medium use on one charge.

I wouldn't mind flashing it if it was worthwhile but don't want to brick it in the process.

I would say so, made the phone much quicker. As long as you do plenty of reading up on flashing your phone on XDA you should be fine. Once you get a recovery partition installed it's hard to brick your phone. You make a backup before you flash, so if it messes up, you reboot into recovery mode and restore the phone.
