Bright rechargeable torch
To replace one of those halogen 12V lead acid rechargeable 3.5 million candlepower yellow torches out of B&Q, one of the two 6V batteries won't charge and can't find a suitable replacement.
Wondering about LED, at least as bright, Lithium ion rechargeable battery, with a longer battery life (the one above was often done in 10-15 mins). Something smaller would be great for the wife when she is trying to find the cat in the dark, use in power cuts etc.
Recommendations? Budget up to £50 say.

I got a torch like that in Lidls when my yellow one expired.
It is a bit smaller than the yellow one and gives a very bright light. Not lithium style battery though. Seems to have a reasonable capacity though but we rarely use it for long periods.

Start here maybe...

Although I got my SSC-P7 flashlight from there, I first got a box set off Amazon with a CREE flashlight, battery and charger.
Also, older thinkpad batteries (for example) are made up of 18650 Panasonic LI-ION cells.

Thanks for all the ideas. Have ordered an LED Lenser H7 (H14 looked a bit big) head torch as thinking about when I need it this is the most common need. Will look at the other options for a hand held.

I got a Led Lenser single AAA torch as a freebie during a conference. Thought, nice toy for the boy. Then I switched it on and WOW! I might buy a big one now, just to dazzle the planes flying overhead (not really officer ).

I bought an Ultrafire from dealextreme, 220 lumens, and I was really impressed.
Then I bought these...
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/3-x-...-12-59-1047126
Supposed to be 150 lumens but a side to side comparison shows it gives a much larger and brighter beam than the ultrafire. But for £4.00 each, a real bargain.

Tempted to get one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/skyray-...x-18650-100215
Had a couple of DX flashlights and they are pretty cool. Brightest I currently have is with an SSC-P7 LED which is actually four emitters in one package, supposedly 900LM. Pretty bright anyway

Fenix TK35 800 Lumen would be a good replacement.
Lots of power, but also lower power modes when needed.
You can run it off rechargable CR123s.
Has the same LED as the TK60, but just shorter run time.
Very well made and comes with a belt pouch too.

Oh just seen your budget the TK range is a bit over what you want to pay.
In that case, PD31 at £59.99 is right on the moeny really, 300 lumens and will run on a rechargable 18650. http://www.fenixtorch.co.uk/
