Any London Tube Drivers On Here?
I've been toying with the idea of a career change and now im living down in Milton Keynes I've been thinking of getting a job on the underground as a driver.
Anyone on here a Tube driver who can tell me a bit about the job, Pros and cons and point me in the right direction.
Cheers.
Andy

Which part of the advertised £50k pa plus overtime attracted you to the job?
Apart from the money i can imagine it's a crushingly boring career.

Don't know if it would be a wise long term career prospect, they seem to be working towards driverless trains. I guess the unions brought this on their own heads through repeated industrial action.

A bit of Inof that I know is that you would start on a lower rate for the first year as this is the standard training period and within 3 years you would then progress to the higher rate of pay.
Like someone has already said they are looking at going full driver less trains like the DLR is or should I say was supposed to be so I'd say it could be a very short term career move if this is implimented

Not true. If i devoted all my time to micro-managing my positions i'd not make any more than i do. It's a case of knowing when to give it full attention and when to step back. In 11 years on here, i've only missed an opportunity because of posting something, twice.

I suspect it's a who you know not what you know career prospect. With advertised wages averaging £50k and no real skill or education needed, I think there will probably be a thousand applicants for every position.
Decent money but god what a boring job, no doubt frequent suicide jumpers too.
Good luck.
