...... apparently you cannot be arrested for failing to stop for an UNMARKED Police Car!!!
Interesting, and worth remembering!

If any Police car unmarked or not attempts to pull you over then I do believe that you are entitled to drive to the nearest Police station if you are unsure to the legitimacy of the car and it's driver/passengers.
There have been numerous attempts by thieves mounting blue flashing strobe lights into their cars and attempting to pull over motorists around South Wales.
So I was told when I asked a Police officer that if you are unsure of a police car attempting to pull you over drive to the nearest Police station, or if you have a handsfree mobile then ring the operator and ask them to put you through to the nearest Police station who can verify the car attempting to pull you over.

So, no, I don't think you have to stop even if you see blue lights and hear sirens! Which I didn't know - but do now!

I actually had an experience of this about 20 years ago. An unmarked tried to get us to stop, we were having none of it and managed to suddenly brake and turn off down a side road, so they just called for a marked car to stop us. The fact that they got given the slip clearly showed in their subsequent treatment of us - they confiscated the car claiming it was stolen.... (We got it back next day with an apology)

Presumably then, you don't have to stop on a motorway? I see loads of people pulled over getting tickets on the hardshoulder. There's no way I'd stop on there, I already spend too much time on there for work!

I learnt this one in 1976, when a 1.6 Escort Mk II would easy outrun the pesky filth...
Not happy when they found us in the drive chatting. But the end resulted was no action taken.

I have to say that that has never occurred to me since I have always expected any cop car wanting to stop me would be recognisable in some way.
I would never stop for an unmarked car anyway, since these days villains seem to be prepared to try anything to rob you and not only that, many of them would not be too fussy if any injuries they gave you were life threatening.

So I was told when I asked a Police officer that if you are unsure of a police car attempting to pull you over drive to the nearest Police station, or if you have a handsfree mobile then ring the operator and ask them to put you through to the nearest Police station who can verify the car attempting to pull you over.
When you come to a stop (While talking to the operator on your phone) because all your tyres are burst. They will then smash all your windows (as a distraction) then 2 nice big traffic cops will then drag you out of your drivers smashed window, slam you onto the floor, while one kindly rests his knee very firmly onto the side of your face.
If you go to court to defend yourself. If it looks like you'll win, they do you for driving while using your mobile phone.
So, why not. Just pull over (keeping the doors locked). Keep the engine running while having it in first gear (with the clutch down) and roll your window down just a fraction.
When someone comes to the window. If they make a grab the door handle, drive off.
Also, ask for ID before switching the engine off and getting out.
