Default Ipod touch to home cinema?

So the wife has bought me an Ipod touch (Brun - previously allergic to all things touch screen) i have a LG 5.1 home cinema thingy, would i be able to play my music through it? I've tried plugging into the usb port on the LG but it doesn't pick up the Ipod up?

I connect mine through the 3.5mm jack to the same on my Panny. Works a treat.

http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/hom...M&s=topSellers

Cheaper probably available on eBay, MacWarehouse etc.

Or add an Apple TV to play wirelessly through Wi-Fi using Airplay.

....found a 3.5 jack to rca cable which i plugged into the L+R input on the back of the surround sound thingy. I assume that i could buy a cheapish ipod dock and connect this to the surround sound thingy the same way and then i could have remote control

I really like that. Am i right in assuming that it can put a picture up on the tv screen so you can see what you are doing with the remote on the Ipod? Does that make sense?

I have it set up so that the iphone is receiving via wi-fi from my home router (so you can stream internet radio etc.), the Logic 3 unit is connected to both my Plasma and home cinema surround audio. The remote unit with the Logic 3 controls the ipod/iphone to search, play or pause tracks etc. You can also play films, or youtube direct from the ipod/iphone on the TV. You don't get a display on the TV for what the remote is doing but you can see on the ipod screen what is happening.
