Funny enough was talking about this last night and the guy I was speaking to also said it seemed very strange why it took so long to be knighted. did wonder if he had upset someone along the way hence it taking so long when compared so some others !!

What i don't understand is how the Queen, who personally knights one of her subjects, genuinely didn't know he'd been in showbusiness for 70 years.
I mean, is she THAT much of a puppet monarch that it's just another day's task??

How is the queent a puppet monarch just because she isn't clued up on the working life of Bruce Forsyth?

MBEs, CBEs, OBEs yes i can understand they're often just faceless public servants. Move along - next.
But when you give somebody the highest order of the British Empire, surely you know a basic detail like "why" you're knighting him, ie for 70 years in showbusiness? Just really disappointed me that she was that ill-informed.
