Default Wheeler dealers ??

Must admitt a bit off a fan off this particular tv programme, just watched one episode this morning where they bought an old red mr2 mk1 t-bar for £500 and after just a few days work was looking excellent and sold for £1900 !!

tell you what thou that must rate as one off the most edited programes around !!! nothing ever seems to go wrong for ed - every job seems so easy, no rusted nuts refusing to budge for him !! still seems a very talented guy thou -watched him sand down an alloy wheel off the above mr2 that was to me beyond diy repair but by the time he had finished it it was looking better than new and again all done by hand - apparantly anyway !!

anyone else watch this particular episode with the mk1 mr2 ??

The man hours alone would probably cost more than what the MR2 sold for, Ed is very skilled and he looks to be a great mechanic but their is no way you can renovate those cars for the price they sell them for on that programme and make a genuine profit.

I think the profit was more like £600 after all the costs were totalled up.

If you take it to a garage, then no, of course you can't.
The program is aimed at the amateur mechanic.

Watched the most recent one on the weekend - went to the US and bought a Dodge Charger.

TBH, the car was pretty much sound. Looked like a project someone had lost interest in.

I don't really pay much attention to the costs and what they sold it for - I think in some cases theres alot that isn't mentioned. Worth watching if theres nothing else on IMO.

Th only one of these I'm prepared to watch is the one where Ed's pillar lift collapses with that useless fat cockney oxygen thief under it, and he dies a slow and painful death

Unfortunately they've not made that one yet

I hate the way that fat cockney tw@t has to hit the bodywork every time he walks in to the garage to see how he's getting on with it - even after a respray, the fat little **** has to give it a good whack, then sits on ther bonnet

And he then rags a freshly finished motor prior to selling it.

I can't wait for the day when he breaks something!

I beg to differ there

A trained monkey can build an engine, have you seen some of the vehicles Ed China has built over the years

But yeah, I wouldn't buy a car that's featured on that programme

I dont see what is wrong with the workmanship ? compared to what most cars get treated like in garages and main dealers.

Did not watch that particular episode to the end - kinda lost interest with it being American !! take it the car sold okay in the end ??!!

funny you can gurantee if it was me or you it would have been a new gearbox required, they replace the linkage ?? and bingo fault cured- as I say everything just seems to go so good for the guy !!

thought it was funny when he was buying the parts from the breakers yard- guy would not budge on price / over here they often feel they feel shamed into lowering the price for him !!

did they say how much shipping costs etc were for bringing the car in from the usa ??

I have just imported my new vehicle from the USA Shipping costs £1800 for RoRo shipping. Dont mention the VAT 20% and Import duty 22%, then £1500 conversion/collection SVA/IVA testing

I really enjoy watching the show.

I do get irritated with with some of the tripe he comes up with but that's to be expected from a dealer.

yeah compared to stealers and garages he`s fine, i think its more bodywork stuff, e.g. he was spraying the arch on that mr2 and he didnt even take the wheel of lol. its just silly things he does sometimes. did you see the one where he fitted that strut brace on a 6 series bmw - i pmsl especially when the buyer commented on it looking ****

When you really think hard about it, do you actually ever see him doing anything?

I really like the show though, good fun light entertainment with a car theme. A bit like TopGear used to be before it put its head up its own ****.
