Default Apollo 18

Well I've just watched apollo 18 and although it was pretty boring it got me wondering..

At the end it shows you people that have died and never found. Was this true or is it all fictional but done in a way to make you ask questions?

And why haven't they gone back to the moon?

Because a paper suit and 1mm thick Aluminium, won't protect you from all the radiation in space. Let alone protecting you through the Van Allen Belt.

It was just too expensive to send people to the moon, was all the moon landing stuff real? of course it was, have you not seen the latest pictures on where the landings took place, photographed by a passing probe?
People think it was all bs and set up, they say because you could not see the stars it wasnt real and the shadows were wrong, biggest fact is, is that some big ball of fire became the brightest object out there so its like light polution, if they were on the dark side then you would see stars.

I was just idly wondering if the pavement outside McDonalds is covered with chewing gum like the one in Torquay!

If someone could answer this it would be fab... At the end of the film it says 4 people died and their bodues were never recovered. Is this just part of the film or was it a real statement?

No, oh please right back at you. Soooo many reasons why the Americans would have wanted to be the first on the moon in the height of the Cold War. Cold War? Do you even remember the politics of the late 60s? Unlikely - yes. Insane? Definitely not.

Not really no I'm not an old fart.

Yes I agree to a certain extent that the first landing may of been a ruse, due to the coldwar and intense competition between the two nations to be first to do it during the spacewar, although I still believe they made it. But what about the other multiple landings? You aren't seriously suggesting they were all faked to are you?

Why would i bother to continue this conversation having been called an old fart?

I can take a joke, but why say that?

Indeed, why would you bother going to the trouble of faking something like that seven times. That really would be insane.

Or something you've got away with once, so every time thereafter is a little bit easier...

Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17. Six times

OK then, so was it just the moon landings that were faked, or also things like the Voyager probes, Cassini, the various Mars missions, or a very careful selection of the above?

Just the Moon landings. Like i said - unlikely, but not 100% proved either.

Telboy come on you're just being daft now, or on the windup.

The cost of staging it would of cost just as much if not more as the real deal to, why bother??

Because, according to old farts alive at the time, the first man on the Moon was THE statement of superiority between America and Russia. You're looking at it from a totally different perspective today. It's like explaining why the Beatles were relevant. You wouldn't get it.

Oh dear oh dear it was indeed meant as a joke ok, why so sensitive?

As far as not getting it, that's gibberish. The whole thing is common sense imo.

I'm not being bloody sensitive

I just don't completely trust America or its intentions from the late 60s. 99% yes. 1% no.
