Angry *(*&^%$!"£ EBay!!

Now, I have been a member on E-Bay for ages - maybe 10 years?

I have bought stuff and it's been pretty pain free.

So, I thought I would try selling .... for the first time.

I want to sell an Impreza Ninja Style Backbox ... it's cluttering up the garage!

I want cash on delivery - don't want all the crap of courier or posting ...... that's ALL I want to do!

BUT, EBay say I HAVE to list PayPal as a payment method as I am a new seller AND they will hold the money for a while

I do NOT want paypal payment - I want cash on collection ... but it seems that EBay won't allow me that option

What do I do? I'm a new seller until 90 days after my first sale ... do I sell something now and in 90 days I can request cash on collection?

It's PATHETIC!!

Just put in the description that you'd prefer cash on collection. It's better for everyone involved as all the fees are avoided so I'm sure the buyer will understand.

Sell it on here then.

I can't remember the first time I sold something on Ebay, must have been at least 7 years or so ago. I remember my paypal account being particularly tricky to set up (Had to wait for a code in the post or something plus a phone call). But I have no problems ever since. What I do detest are the Ebay and Paypal fee's which, on the last sale I made, came to almost 14%!

On a more serious note, a Ninja backbox? What were you thinking?

For once I agree with you They cough up some crap saying its to 'protect buyers' when really its to line their own pockets Every seller has to specify paypal, even me with my 570 feedback score! Maybe try listing it, but when writing the description add, in big red letters, CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY. Don't be surprised if the eBay keyboard warriors cancel the listing because of it though.
I for one would prefer to collect and pay cash for something like that as you can inspect it before you hand over the cash!

Why not try selling the back box on here first? That way there are no fees to pay!

Just noticed you aren't a payed up member so you can't sell on here. It'd be cheaper for you to sign up to + membership for a month as eBay fees are VERY steep!

put something up for 99p buy it now - get a friend to buy it, pay instantly with paypal and leave you feedback equally as quick... not the best option, but an option none the less

You just have

If you want to advertise properly then paying for a months + membership on here would be less than your eBay fees!

And then I have to wait 90 days to sell without PayPal being an option legit.

Why is it so much damned hassle? In the good old days I could advertise in the local paper and sell that way ..... progress ain't progress at all, is it?

Just a warning, the eNazis on eGay will probably remove the advert, i've had it happen before

The best you can do is state you prefer cash on collection and say that you wont post it ANYWHERE. If you say in the advert 'cash only' you'll find some fool will buy it and try to pay you via paypal anyway, resulting in them giving you negative feedback when you point out their low IQ.

Now, Now ... it's a Ninja STYLE Backbox ... it was sold to me as a Ninja, but it has no Ninja engraved name on it. So I wouldn't claim it's a genuine Ninja ...

I was given it on loan incase it was too loud and incase it droned on the motorway - it wasn't loud until you pushed it (which I never did) and it was sweet on the motorway - so, I bought it ..... and did enjoy tunnels

If they pull the advert do they charge you for it?

Also, heard some stories of people buying via PayPal - collecting in person - then claiming to PayPal that they have not received the item ...... PayPal refunds them, you have no evidence of them receiving the item, and you lose the money AND the item!

So, I don't want PayPal - but, if it's an option some may try to pay via PayPal because they are idiots who don't read the advert or are scammers!!

Looking at the rules, if they gave me a positive feedback on collection I am home and dry ..... why is it so damned difficult! And why do people still use EBay if there is all this farting about?

they did also flag my account or something, when i moaned about the quiz they stuck me through they removed the flag

I understand that you are not happy about the tutorial being placed on your account for the policy. Please understand that the system is designed in such a way that whenever an item gets removed for eBay policy breach, a tutorial gets placed on the account. As this will help the seller to know more about the policy in a better way. This is same for all the sellers on eBay irrespective of their status.

Andrew, I understand that it was an unintentional breach, so I have now removed the policy breach from your account and this will not affect your account status. Also, you can relist the item from Unsold Section of your My eBay with appropriate changes to comply with eBay policy.
i got this after i had already relisted the item btw

They don't charge you if they pull the ad, however your listing fees won't be refunded.
If the buyer has no record of a paypal payment then paypal can't refund it simples! Worst case would be -ve feedback.

Be aware that as a seller, regardless how long you've been on eBay or how many items you've sold, your listing HAS to have paypal as an option of payment.

That's a closed shop - surely? And Illegal - clearly?

Regarding the scam - the buyer pays via PayPal, comes and collects, then - they claim non receipt and PayPal refunds them!! The seller loses the item plus the money.

Maybe if I get a receipt - signed bt the buyer? But, again, that buyer may not be the person who bid for it!

Nah, I want cash on collection only - and to make that clear I would rather not have PayPal as an option! And I don't think it has to be an option 90 days after the sale of your first item (that's how I read it anyway).

Completely agree.
When you list an item and you get to the payment options you can't un-tick the Paypal option so it goes on your listing, like it or not.
Its wrong, but they use 'its protecting the buyer' as its justification

I sold a fog lamp a while back. The buyer then filed a chargeback through their cc company claiming unauthorised use. I lost my item, my money AND they charged me £7 fees. I'm fighting it tooth and nail now. How can someone have unauthorised use of a card when they have to log into the Paypal account to use it? Cardholders negligence imo.
