I bet every single reader of this post has held something made/processed by KODAK at some point in their lives.

I had a Box Brownie Camera ... in the 1950's.
It was my first foray into into photograhy - not as easy as todays gear, a monkey in a wetsuit could take a good picture these days!

They have lots of patents but as above they failed to change with the times. Too much competition from electronic firms that wouldn't normally have encroached on their market.
I bought one of their printers last year and it is shockingly bad: Jammed all the time, came up with errors that required a new print head etc... I gave up and bought a Canon in the end. Much, much better.

Indeed they do. They've moved from their visible and traditional, consumer focused business (film and D&P) to a more background presence with R&D and component manufacture (I believe some of the high-end digital camera manufacturers such as Hasselblad use Kodak sensors).
