Default EU Immigration

I couldn't possibly comment but I hear that the Dutch are getting fed up with EU citizens, particularly Poles, settling in Holland, not working but just taking advantage of the social infrastructure. Basically if they are not working they want to send them packing.

The cause of friction and resentment in many countries - not least the UK - but the feeling is now supported by some in the Dutch Govt who are seeking support from other EC countries saying that EC Free Movement rules were not designed for the current situation.

A can of worms of course but it will be interesting to see how it develops especially in view of our hefty benefits bill in these straightened times. I can see Clegg exploding which may be no bad thing in itself

Anyway something to cheer us xenophobes up for the weekend

The whole benefits system needs total reform. Okay a lot of these East Europeans have a great work ethic when they move here but as soon as they get a whiff off the benefits gravy train a lot of them fall into the welfare trap.

I couldn't agree more but that ain't gonna happen any time soon

EC generally seem to be imploding as they are incapable of fixing the financial mess that they have landed themselves in. Interesting times.

Once again, Dave, for the hard of hearing : IT AIN'T THE EC, IT'S OUR GOVERNMENT.

The others chuck 'em out at will, the Italians, French and Dutch have already done so, in part.

The other states put rules and regs in place before opening the gates. Lying Labour didn't, they welcomed all, as some sort of social experiment.

What we need is NOT to leave the EC, but to do as the others do and LOOK AFTER NUMBER ONE!

Well that certainly raises the intellectual tone of the debate (to say nothing about the contribution to the English language)

Would diabetics be classed as diabled?

I have no problem with people coming over here to work, and in my personal experience of immigrants, of all persuasions, most are here to do just that

Form what I can see, all that would happen if we kicked the immigrants out is that those of use who do get out and work will only have more of it piled on us, because the vast army of homegrown parasites have no intention of working for a living

We have three Poles, and another guy from Senegal, at work, all honest hard workers, and also good fun to have around

Unlike the thieving, workshy, British tossers they replaced

That's because their getting paid four times the wage that they could earn in Poland or Senegal if not more, so of course they are hard workers.

Where could your average Brit go to earn four times his wage? And that's assuming he could actually get into the country if there was such a place.

cant we just make welfare state an insurance policy so if you dont pay in you cant draw out

up until age 18 you claim on your parents policy.

you need to have paid in for 5 years to be able to claim including health care and education. before 5 years you pay or you have an insurance policy that pays, if no policy and money for critical health care we recharge your home country and send you back as soon as well enough to travel.

size of contributions dont effect cover as long as you are a working tax payer you get equal access to benefits

Its a starting point for a policy just needs fine tuning the problem is the millions fiddling the system will never vote for it

Glasga does indeed have a very valid point. The above wide-brished statement is quite offensive to whites - there are plenty of other ethnic UK born benefit spongers too, so there is no need to single out a group of people because of their colour.

F1 - care to edit it to make it more wiser and non-discriminate as per our NSR sticky, so we can get back on with the original topic at hand?

Nope, if I had wanted to word it differently I would have done so!

Moderate it if you feel that way!

By the way, I did not say anything about wishing posts to be removed. It was more about being even-handed. Anyway, it seems this has been achieved in a different way.

About immigration I have always had the same opinion. There should not be any incentive to come here and be looked after in any way, shape, or form. Other than that, there's nothing wrong with it. It shouldn't be encouraged or discouraged.

Probably for the same reason mine was - ie it referenced Chris's comments.

Btw, Ms Jock was reading through this pre "trimming" and, being an Aussie, said "What's a "sponger"?". I explained and she said, "Awe, gotcha, you mean a "Dole bludger"!

Can't see how that could be considered offensive or worthy of a 'delete'??
