I remember watching it unfold on the big screens at work, thinking is this a film? or some sort of camera trick, I guess the same as most of the population around the world.
The one thing that really sticks in my memory were the people that were throwing themselves out of the windows so that they had some sort of control over their own deaths.
Anyway 10 years on. RIP to all those who died in it, and to those trying to save people from the trade centre.

I was in Australia getting ready to catch a flight home, exactly as I am today, I can imagine the atmosphere on board will be a bit better this time.
RIP.

I was in Texas at the time on business, watching the TV news over breakfast.
I'll never forget the sense of feeling utterly helpless as the reports came in over and over again of yet another plane having come down, not knowing what the scale of the incident was going to be.
I was due to fly home myself a couple of days later, but soon realised that not only was I going to have to rearrange my travel plans, I was trapped in a country that was itching to go to war with someone - anyone - in retaliation.
I eventually got to fly home four days later, not long after the FAA allowed flights to resume. Airport security was crazy.

Its amazing how quickly the years go by. I remember when Kennedy was assassinated too. Its always a big shock and in this case a worry in case they try it on nearer home as well.
Their action cannot be vilified enough, the deaths of all those innocent people and the horrifying way in which many of them died was a terrible act. There is no penalty severe enough for those who were responsible. We can only hope that fate catches up with all those responsible who are still around.

I remember going out on site visits 30-60 minutes after it all kicked off. I was down by Torness Nuclear Power Station in East Lothian where I worked as a planner. There were two RAF Tornadoes flying in big circles near/around the station and the Firth of Forth. I doubt that was a coincidence.
