Default Heartbeat Monitors

Need to get one of these for SWMBO B'day

Anyone use them and have any recommendations for brands / places to buy?

Do you mean just for the heartbeat or are you talking about a complete blood pressure and pulse monitor?

Wife wants to use it while exercising, so not sure the Blood Pressure would matter.

Heart Rate & Calories burned is what I think she is after

This one's apparently a reasonable starting point.

I've researched these things but haven't taken the plunge yet.

I used to have a Polar HRM, did what it said on the box but eventually gave up the ghost after a few years. You need to keep the contacts on the chest strap clean, aside from this I would still recommend these.

I now use a Garmin Forerunner 310XT, top bit of kit for the outdoor multi-sport stuff I do.
