Default Cinema v HDTV Quality

Yesterday watched Rise of the Apes and was very disappointed with the overall picture quality
Dark , colours lacked lustre , focus not quite there .
This was in a modern cinema , so all the equipment would only be a couple of years old .
When compared with modern displays or projectors the home set up appears to be light years ahead now.

Ir doesn't really matter how new the equipment is if it is not set up, maintained, or operated properly. Sounds like this is the case.

Also it could be a poor 'print' (copy) of the film that they are running.

i can well believe the setup errors

However mates keep saying how rubbish my crt pic quality is (and how crap to not have 100 channels to choose from) - i go round his gaff to see his flat screen virgin media fibre optic supplied setup , and i swear the picture quality is more blurred than mine

i know i need more glasses - but im not THAT far out ( they are just falling to pieces)

My living room setup looks and sounds better than most of the cinemas I've been to but I still like watching stuff on the "big screen".

Recently a new cinema has opened up near me that has renewed my love of the cinema, the smaller screens are setup wonderfully and sound great.
