I've just bought the parents a concrete birdbath as they enjoy the wildlife in the garden (nice son aren't i)
we filled it up and the next day all the water had gone but the pedestal was wet?
after a couple of days i noticed drips from under the bath part so it appears to be leaking - pourus concrete?
Do i use a pva on the inside of the bath to seal it or is there any other clear solution (tried silicon on the underside but it didn't work)

Take it back, I presume it wasnt cheap? Plus if you try something and stuff it up they are not likely to want it back are they?????

Yeah take it back if you can. Seems an odd one though? Are there any cracks about?

But to answer your question there are sealants that fish keepers use to seal concrete around pond features most of which are supposed to be safe for fish so I guess they will be OK for birds.

Most garden centres with a pond section should have some stuff. I used something with a name like G4 which you just paint on when surface dry.

But I would bet that it's a crack and not water seeping through.

Oh and paint the inside, not the underside.

Well it was bought quite a distance away when i was out for the day so a bit of a trek
It was £30 so not a great expense but i do want it sorting so i might give the garden centre a try for any products.
i've looked and there definately aren't any cracks and the drips are in quite a few places?

They do the same product in 2.5lts as well if you didn't need so much.

I could be way off the mark, but thought it was worth mentioning in case somebody knew whether it would be suitable.

I understand you have purchased the product a distance away, but could you not contact them and explain the problem?

You could paint the bird bath bit in a suitable colour to seal it.

We used to do that to the inside of magnesium alloy racing wheels to stop the air leaking out throught the rims.

You are currently looking at water retention to satisfy the birds. When the winter comes the saturated concrete will freeze and burst if kept outside Return it as not fit for purpose.
