Most forums have the option to either just 'ban' someone, which means they're blocked from posting on message-boards, or 'banning' them 'with the nuclear option', which means everything they ever posted gets wiped, along with their profile.
Unless I'm very much mistaken, the latter option is rarely used here, except for spammers and scammers who come along occasionally to peddle **** or dodgy mobiles, and the like.
