Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals
Was learning an acoustic version of the Circle to include in my set and thought I'd give the album a listen while I was at it...haven't listened to it properly in years. Brought back some great memories.
Superb acoustic version of the Circle here too

If the album is collecting dust on your CD shelf, dig it out as it really is a cracking album that has stood the test of time so well

I kind of liked OCS but they had a little bit of what really makes my skin crawl about Coldplay, cant put my finger on it but some really good songs.
Kula Shaker were ok but preffered "Peeler Tater" myself, there was a group of bands that were similar back then Keane was in there and Toploader, really like Bedshaped by Keane and High Flying Bird by Toploader, that Rhodes Piano gets me every time. Oh and Reef as well, all kind of "cool", white, a bit rocky but still pretty safe and inoffensive., could I lump the Seahorses in there, similar MO but a bit more pedigree perhaps.
Superceded in my preferences by Gomez and Kasabian.

I liked Coldplays first album TBH, maybe 'cos the way it was a soundtrack to a time in my life that was really good. But now I don't like them at all.

I loved Moseley Shoals, used to have it playing on my walkman whilst cycling to work, then in the car when I finally got one! That must have been on tape!

There was this bloke in the fifth form ( when i was 12 ) played ELO constantly on a ghetto blaster on his shoulder , in school . We thought he was bit outdated - this was a year before the sex pistols

Brilliant album, start of the year they were doing a 15 year anniversary tour of the album. They played the whole thing track after track. Plus all the extra tracks etc. The gig was epic up there with one of the best gigs I've seen. Great memories go along with the album.

we were talking about this last night. how many good bands are there nowadays? all this x factor same old same old is killing the music scene. it all just sounds the same to me. what happened to good old bands like pink floyd, queen, guns n roses, elo, bon jovi, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Classix Nouveaux, Blancmange, Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Specials, Madness, the (English) Beat, Selecter, nirvana, pearl jam, radiohead et al. none of them seem to stand the test of time anymore. one hit x factor wonders then they fade into obscurity. it's sad. i suppose people get older and times change. i miss those times. sorry all maudlin and melancholy now.

getting less and less. In our apathetic consumer-based world, where immediate gratification is tantamount, bands have no hope of longevity imho.
If you last 12 months, you're doing well.
Sad state of affairs too. There will be no "young" stadium-type bands.
And you (the music-acquiring public) have made it like this.
Confrontational statement? yes. I work in the Music Industry on the front line, trying to get these artists/musicians broken through.
