I didn't mean to give that impression, but I don't think it deserves hand-wringing either.

I think the performance of NL for the time they were in power deserves multitudinous hand wringing!

To be fair the banking sector was hugely bloated, making loads of money from lending badly.

Don't you mean buying toxic loans up cheaply and thern selling them off at a profit without declaring the toxicity?

Really trustworthy chaps don't you think?

Read somewhere recently that out of 400,000 new jobs created in the last few years, 90% have gone to immigrants.

And before anyone says it, it's NOT that "modern yoof" doesn't want to work. I know a lot of 16-25's who would love to work, but the employers take on Eastern Europeans and pay them less.

Round here lots of immigrants are working for less than min wage, cash in hand. Car washes etc. are a good example.

when you have worked in facotry/warehouse jobs where british employees are gradually ousted out and eastern europeans brought in for their cheaper labour and Health & Safetyless (but more productive for employer) work ethic, you see the other sign of the coin.

But surely these 400,000 jobs that were created do not include these 'untraceable' cash-in-hand jobs.

Most EE people are paid the minimum wage, our local youth are a pain in the **** and help to make themselves unemployable. I am going to start a new company soon an I have already started asking people I know from Poland and Estonia if they have any friends back home or in the UK who are willing to work hard and suffer ****ty hours for minimum wage plus tips.
For those moaning about car washes do you honestly not think they get investigated up the **** for tax irregularities ? I happen to know the owners of a few of them and they usually pay staff minimum wage then charge them rent and travel to work. I also know for a fact that one guy I know who has four car washes has the tax office pretty much permanently shining a torch up his ****.
Why do people blame the EE staff for being hard working and honest, pretty rare traits in the youth of England

just over 800 from Western power distribution now they took over central networks (use to be part of Eon). Thats not including the sub contractors that did work for cnetral networks, Like CEVA logistics that do all the logistical movements to sites (ie plant materials cable) and help install and remove all the gear (who pay my wages), morgan sindall's and Morrisons Utilities all these having employees made redundant (i may be one of them) Because of WPD restructuring

the countries dropping to it's knees

Second that.. f**k EU.
When I was made redundant last time (13 months ago) I had a 2 year old and a 3 month old. I was earning nearly 30k a year and went to the job office and said "I need a job; I will do anything, clean the streets, work in MacDonalds, anything". You know what they said to me? "No, we have nothing for you". What a bloody joke. Granted there are jobs out there for people with no skills and willing to work for minimum wage but EU people get there first and then get there mates jobs and leave nothing for UK people. I know the youth of today are not up to much but can you blame them when it is so hard to fight the system. It’s an easy option to just take handouts. Even jobs for call centre staff are asking for degrees now and it doesn’t matter what it’s in (even art) but you must have a degree. What’s that all about?

I think you are missing the point. I know already that when looking for staff it will be very hard to find anyone English capable and willing. There are some but in general the the good English staff you get would have been friends of friends or linked to you in some other way. Placing an advert in the local paper or job centre just gets you too many illiterates who want to turn up, mumble through an interview then get you to sign a piece of paper for the job centre to confirm they turned up for the interview. If you actually offer some of these people a trial shift they have a panic attack.

I just don't understand that.

Our kids are coming out of school with record levels of grades, thanks to the amazing work of our hard-done-by teachers. So how could they not be employable!

I don't see how that can be entirely true.

I work in retail, and we have jobs come up fairly often, and my employers don't seem to struggle filling these roles. Albeit, some of the people employed are fairly useless, but alot of that comes down to little/no time being given to training them (although it's hardly rocket science), and a complete lack of dealing with those under performing. It's quite frustrating as one of the grafters, that other people get away with quite frankly, taking the ****.

I'm not sure who is more to blame, the employees for not pulling their weight, or the management for allowing it to happen.
