Loud bicycle bell?
Need a bell. There are a couple of roads I cycle along on my road bike (cycling for fitness so not hanging about) which are a bit quiet and you often get pedestrians walking in the road. No problem there as there aren't any pavements either .... I just need to warn them I'm coming and usually resort to shouting but would rather get a bell. Trouble is, the only ones I've seen are the sort I used to have as a kid which are/were cr*p!
Anyone got any recommendations for something small, light and LOUD for a road bike?

I often find snapping your shoes in/out of yr cleated pedals can make enough of an echo, if shouting doesn;t work.
or just whistle.
can't see its much of a problem if they're on the road, as they're not likely to be 6 abreast.
its frigging dog walkers, without them on a lead that do my head in: I nearly killed a dog/or it killed me last night as somehow it ran into/along and between my road bike last night !

Thanks for all the really "useful" suggestions .... Went into the local bike shop today and got one of these ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...pf_rd_i=468294 ... As the comment says, even a 3 year old can use it ..
I was thinking that I choose a bell on the criteria I listed above (small, light and loud) then buy and fit it. Seems, though, that it's not so bleddy easy. Most won't fit a bog standard road bike bars as the clamp is too small. The chap in the shop was saying they get new bikes out of the crate that have bells with them - that don't fit the bikes handlebars ...
Sorry Les. No hot air left on the bike - I use it all up on here ...

It's excellent when tooling up and down bridleways and the double ting is friendly enough and people DO hear it and automatically get out the way.
I always say thanks as I pass them though

Sorry mate - had I known you meant just a normal bell, that's the one I would've suggested as it's the one I use on my commuting bike.
