Radio Caroline
Just picked up on this. Basically I get it through my satellite here in France, feed it into the tuner port on the HiFi and it's brilliant. They play some amazing stuff, NO rap, no silly little girls with twelve-year old voices, double, triple and quadruple tracked to give them powerful voices.
Anyone who can get it and who likes rock, I suggest you give it a try.

In fact Grant introduced many of us to Radio Caroline. Every Tuesday night, without fail.
He was well known to guys on the 60s/70s request programme.
Havent been able to listen in since he went. That was something we enjoyed as friends, and it isnt the same without him.
Glad you like it Alcazar!

Internet radio
you can get caroline if you have the internet, it is on the list of internet stations, I get it at home on my Roberts internet radio. Great late night choices, and little chat, just music!

My parents used to listen to this in the 60's and 70's.
Look out for a film called 'the boat that rocked' a VERY good film based on the early days when radio Caroline was broadcasting from the north sea. I'm not sure where it is broadcast from these days, but you can pick it up on line.
The music is all good! Like has been said, no crappy pop or cheesy r&b.
Here is a little momento my dad gave me a few heras back.
Excuse the tea/coffee stains!

Grant introduced a load of us to it The laughs we used to get on Tuesday night's on the request show We got the presenter to even call one of our mates a bell end
And the likes of " A big hello to Izaac *** from Poland'' And '' Welcome to our new listener, Wayne Kerr Epic
Kath, it's in a dock in Essex being repaired IIRC and still broadcasting from her. Will have to watch that movie
Les, to the requests and comments on the show, it's as good now as it was in the old days

One of the things I liked most about visiting the US is that they have ordinary FM radio stations that play nothing but rock - I heard more Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd on the radio there in 10 days than I'd probably hear on any station I can pick up at home in as many years.
As soon as I got back, I hunted down the websites and added their online streams to all my computers, and I don't often listen to anything else now.
