Supercar keys
Ok, so this may be of very little interest to most of you, but if like me, you've ever wondered what kind of key you get with your stupidly expensive supercar, this is the link for you!
We recently had 6 very hot super cars at work - including the Ferrari 458 and the McLaren MP4-12c - so I decided to swipe the keys and make a little comparison blog
Check it out here http://bit.ly/CARkeyblog

^ I think the Ferrari is the best one. I had to lol at the audi and merc, I think a pimped a4 key or a sprinter key with chrome on the sides is just poor show imo.

Having lived with pure keyless for a few months now it actually annoys me that when I get home I need to find my house keys in my pocket in order to open the front-door.
Have seriously looked at "keyless" front door options just to avoid the hassle!

Wouldn't work for me though as I have OCD.
I need to tug at the door handle to make sure the car is locked. I walk away, then often have to come back again to check.
Keyless would keep unlocking it and i'd never know!

The A8 key doesn't just look like every other Audi key, it looks just like the key to our Octavia pool car too
Except of course that ours has the better looking logo on it
I'm with Les on the keys thing, If somebody really feels the need to show off their car keys to complete strangers in a pub, they must have some properly deep rooted insecurities

Agreed. Doors that open as you touch the door handle, close when you press a button on the door handle, and starting the car with a simple push of the "Start" button are the only way.

For example, what annoys me especially is going to Tesco in my wifes car.
When you return to the car, you have to set the things you are carrying down to hunt for that b@stard key.
Take it out of your pocket, then look at the ****** to see which button to press.
Then press a button to eject the metal bit so you can open the boot

The "key" is big enough for me to not want it in my pocket when I'm driving so it usually gets dropped in a cubby hole or left on the passenger seat, only to be forgotten about and left there when i get out of the car meaning that anyone walking up to the car can pull the handle and open it/drive off.
Don't do it often but enough to hack me off.
Also have to put my foot on the brake and hold the start button down for it to start which can for no reason sometimes take 10 -15 seconds before it decides it wants to start.

Can't stand it personally - have it on the family wagon and it drives me nuts.

My key isn't that big.
I get in to the car, depress clutch and press the start button once and its starts
Engage 1st gear (if you haven't slready done so) and off you go.

Mine's a Renault Grand Espace key - credit card sized, but fairly thick, especially in it's leather case. So, not huge but too big to live in my wallet and I have enough crap floating around in my pockets already normally hence it getting dumped on the seat or wherever.
Just doesn't feel like an advance to me, more a gimmick

I would imagine something like this.
Get out of car and walk away.
... Did the car lock itself?
Return to car, only to find the car is unlocked because you returned to it
Walk away.... Did the car lock itself?
Return to car, only to find the car is unlocked because you returned to it
Repeat

But its not like that at all.
My car locks itself only when you close the boot and the other doors are closed, but thats all.
It NEVER unlocks itself.
Basically I get out, close the door and touch a little button on the handle and its locked
Arrive back, touch that little button and it unlocks.
Get in and be seated, clutch in, touch the start button and your away

I really liked having it and it was quite funny starting it up without the key .
