How do I become a better loser ???
Is it just me or does everyone beat themselves up inside after losing at sport related things
I have just taken up squash over the last few months and have worked my way up from league 8 to league 4, but now I have finally met my match. I have lost my last three games and have now had the hump for ages just cant get it out of my system. I know I cant win every game but im such a bad loser
When im on court win or lose I just love it but when I get home and start thinking about the game I just get madder and madder.
Any ideas how to become a better loser
Don't say "dont lose"

I have moments of madness!! Strange as its not across the board?
i.e
Golf - great sport! Around a 20 handicap but when I play bad and lose I still really enjoy it and like the sport even more for being hard and unable to master it as such. Keeps me going back!
Now flip-side of that. . .
Snooker - again played quite a bit but last outing, although I lost that never bothered me he played better simple as. . . BUT. . . just did my head in knowing that I can play so much better and just messed it up myself which really makes me boil. So in a moment of madness, middle of the snooker hall. Snapped my cue in half! Made me feel better but only afterwards did I remember it was a bloody expensive cue!
So not a bad loser as such I just get annoyed with myself when I know I could have played better. If I pay well and lose then they are just better on that day.

I hate it as well. Played a golf comp recently scored 20 points on the front and was in second place over all and fancied myself to win as the back nine was longer and harder and plays to my strengths. Scored 9 points on the back and finished not far off last. THat was nearly three weeks ago and have not picked up a club since.

Just accept that you were not good enough at the time to win and if you really feel you have to win, keeping working at it until you do.
If you force yourself to learn how to relax about it, your game will get better anyway.

Take a look at most pro`s, they peak, stay on top for a short while then its all downhill. Very few of them regain their prowess. Just play for the enjoyment of playing

If I haven't tried or have just screwed it up myself, then I beat myself up about it - but then I do *that* even if I DO win!
For me, it's about personal goals, the winning or the losing are secondary to *trying*
and then sometimes, I just don't give a stuff and enjoy myself

It's all in the mind guys, weather your in front or behind you need to relax to get the best out of yourself.
As soon as it starts to mean too much you will tense up and loose your touch and consentration, try not to focus so much on the winning just the perfect shot and touch the winning will follow.
For me it's driving or riding a motorbike and getting the braking the lines and gear changes and the power back on right i don't care about anything else.
I transfer this to everything i do including golf and pool and horse riding, it works for me, and the more i do it the less i loose.
