Patents etc?
What's the best advice if someone has thought up a new (or possibly new) engineering concept?
Can you patent a concept which hasn't been tested in the real world? How do you search to see if someone else has already thought it up?
The idea relates to petrol engines.

Apply for a patent, if its in place or similar, they should tell you.
Even if's not feasible now, the application or concept may well be in 10- 20 years time
BTW magnets in fuel lines don't work

You can search the US patent database for free. Try www.freepatentsonline.com.
To patent an idea you have to be able to describe how to make it in sufficient detail that someone else could reproduce it - if you just have a concept but no idea how to build it you won't get a patent.

If you are filling in a patent application, do not be sparse with any info. include as much detail as possible about what it is, and include illustrations where required. Basically, go over the top.

I'm pretty sure burning 'darkies' to provide fuel for an engine is against some sort of health and safety or PC law. And Hitler may well have already tried it.......
