Default Dogs howling...........gaaaaah!

So her I am, over in France, alone, in a 300+ year old house. It's out in a hamlet, so at night, UTTERLY silent.

And now the neighbours are "looking after" another Alsation farm dog. For looking after, read, chained up in a barn.

And the poor thing howls all day long..........and at night too.

HOW spooky is it to be woken by howling, in a very old house, while the rest of the coutryside is utterly still?

LOL, I'm not wanting it to stop, other than that the poor animal is bored and lonely.

It's just soooooooooo spooky when you come awake to hear it.

Didn't Tom Sawyer used to believe that a dog howling in the night meant a death?

As you say, can't really blame the dog if it is chained up alone in a barn. Sounds like they could not even be bothered to put him on a running lead so he can at least walk about a bit.

Is it worth a chat with those neighbours?

It is on a long chain, but to French farnmers, a dog is just a work animal. They STILL can't understand why I see more of THEIR dog than they do when I'm here.
