"How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to pass the test?" Asked of a Scottish driving instructor in 1995
Quite a lot of the comments are actually true, just un-PC, and most of the others are clearly jokes - and actually very funny in many cases! He must put a lot of people at ease with a funny comment, but I can imagine a few of the comments do cause offence!

10. "People usually say that after a fire it is water damage that is the worst. We are still drying out Windsor Castle." To survivors of the Lockerbie bombings in 1993.
Did I miss something, it was a plane brought down by a bomb and it was 1988
Other than this error some absolute quality stuff in there

I particularly like this one:
"It looks as though it was put in by an Indian." The Prince's verdict of a fuse box during a tour of a Scottish factory in August 1999. He later clarified his comment: "I meant to say cowboys. "I just got my cowboys and Indians mixed up."

I heard a good DofE quote on the radio a couple days ago. He was meeting a newly elected Labour MP with republican tendencies and asked the MP what he had done before being elected.
MP - "I was an official for xxxxx Trade Union."
DofE - "So you've never had a proper job then?"
MP (indignantly) - "So what did you do before you got your job?"
DofE - "I fought in the Second World War."

Some excellent quotes there
"A few years ago, everybody was saying we must have more leisure, everyone's working too much. Now that everybody's got more leisure time they are complaining they are unemployed. People don't seem to make up their minds what they want." A man of the people shares insight into the recession that gripped Britain in 1981.

Don't blame him; She did ask some really stupid questions and clearly didn't do her research either.
The invterview with Phil and Sir Trevor Mc Doughnut was far more insightful (And the look on Trevor's face when in the passenger seat of his Range Rover being driven at speed through the country manner by Phil was priceless - he was clearly crapping himself but trying to keep composure )

Got a lot of time for him. Very impressed with his support for the Queen as well.
I think he knows how to use his position to get away with it at times, but as said above, he says it as he sees it.
