Pulling out a molar
It's been sealed but over time it's eroded, yesterday i saw a tiny bit of blood so it's obviously worn down to the nerve.
It's not hurting so im assuming the tooth is either dead or on it's way, so im thinking about loosening it by hand for now, then when the time comes rip the bugger out, and stuff some medical gauze in there.
I hate dentists good as mine is, plus id rather do it myself and get it over with, they only use a fancy set of pliers anyway.
Anyone done it themselves?

Where is Shaun?
I think you could have complications if you pull it out yourself (infection/absess etc) so always worth that visit to the dentist to get it checked on if you do pull it out yourself!

True i've read up on all that, many suggest using a teabag for gauze as it acts as a mild antiseptic which was a surprise.
Well im just trying to loosen the thing by hand for now, hopefully over time it'll be loose enough to yank the bugger out.
To quote iron man.
That's how dad did it, and it's worked out pretty well so far.
Jamie those are some fancy pliers, got my eye on some dental ones on ebay.
It's the one remaining molar on this bit, so there is nothing to get in the way.

got to be careful if you do try and pull it out that it doesnt breakmoff in the gum and leave bits in belwo the surface... be in a mess if that happens i tried that years ago with a large back tooth that had gone rotten down to the gum tried pulling it out and in the end it had to be taken out by dentist as i had broken nearly all of it below gum line took him about half an hour to dig out what was left ...worse than having a whole tooth out beleive me

tried to pull mine out 5 years ago only coz my bro pussied out, had a huge absys with nearly closed my eye and it snapped in there not had any probs and it burst the absyss which was a relief but from experience dont use a pair of grips or long nose pliers gon to a dentist they wont snap it and will be done and dusted in a few days. you will have a new hobby of sticking your tongue in the hole aswell. best of luck if your gonna have a go

Took both my wisdom teeth out loosened them up first then got a part of a wooden clothes peg in there to finish the job off. Not for the faint hearted and in hindsight it is probably best not to do it yourself.

Sorry about the late reply.....young family and all that LOL
taking it out yourself is really very fraught and not recommended, I guarantee you won't get it out in one piece. I worked in the casualty dept at Bristol Royal Infirmary (where the BBC series is actually based, When it first started I recognised the layout, including cubicle 3-orange)
I saw quite a few attempted extractions involving a bottle of whiskey and some pliers and it never ended well.
For some reason I was involved in an abduction and torture case where extracting teeth with pliers was involved and again it didn't end well
If you have worn it down to the nerve then it would be very painful indeed (dead nerves don't bleed) If you have decided to leave it as a "sleeper" which is a knackered tooth dressed to keep it quiet then it might need refurbishment.
Dentist visit I'm afraid.......
Where are you ??

Mate, dont do it, I had a tooth removed last year and it took an hour and two dentists, the young girl doing it didnt have the technique or the muscle, her older male coleague got it out but was sweating a bit (not as much as me) , strangely, teeth are quite well stuck into your jaw, its not like Lego !
Mine came out in bits, I nealy had to go to the dental hospital to have the remainder removed, this is with professionals doing it, there is no way on gods earth I could have got that out with a pair of pliers myself, even then it took ages to heal and hurt like ****.
Remember you can get infections, things stuck, bleed to death, tetanus and more pain than you need endure, potentially indefinitely, honest these dentist types have been to college and everything to learn their teeth stuff !
Take Midlifes advice !

Bloody hell, have you ever had a tooth removed! Some people get put to sleep for it!
Seriously though, it took me almost four hours for me to stop bleeding when I last has teeth out, (yes teeth! Long story, but they were healthy).
I passed out after a few hours because of the pain and blood loss and woke up in a right mess.
When I got chance too look at the teeth, one of them had a small piece of jaw stuch to it!
Just go to the dentist, it will be much easier, and safer.

Funny enough that's what the last dentist had to do it took that much force to rip the bugger out.
It's quiet for now so i'll see how things go.
My dentist is private so i can get a booking pretty quickly anyway.
