British Passport expired.
I am proposing to return to the UK in July , but have discovered that my British passport expires in June .
Will I be permitted to enter the UK on an expired passport or could I have problems ?
Thanks

A 10 second google search dug up this from the British Consular, in respect of someone in the USA with an expired passport.

Indeed, got to renew the missus' one despite that fact it still has 5 years left to run as we foolishly got married and she took my surname. Up until now we thought we'd just book stuff in her maiden name but with the baby in tow as well (also needs a passport) thought we'd better update it. £80 for hers, £50 for the sprog (only 5yrs)

If you have people you can trust in the UK send them the necessary paperwork, get them to send it in for a new passport. When they receive it they can mail it to you, simples

I didn't think you needed a British passport to get into this country.

I have a feeling I am going to regret this but I am an Immigration Officer.
You will be fine although you will need some photographic ID such as a driving license or something which includes your full name and date of birth to establish your identity and nationality.
Expect to be held up a while as checks are made with the passport agency and police.
Now go and get a renewal

Well even if you can't find Camoscooby when you arrive and cross his palm with Bahts I think you'll be fine.
You'll be welcomed after just the 7 hour interview and be given a nice room in a cosy warm asylum centre with plenty of others to make friends with.
You won't be able to get any benefits for a while but with a bit of luck you might get something in the washing up industry and even £2.50 cash in hand per hour. If you were female you could make much more of course.
If you still have a suntan left you could then be classified as "Of Middle Eastern origin" and get a free flight to a country of our choice.
So cheer up
PS. Can't you buy a UK Passport over there? Probably cheaper than a genuine one.
Or tell them you are an overseas student when you arrive?

You certainly won't have a problem on arrival in the UK - your problem might be with the airline when you check in, because it is their responsibility to make sure you have a valid travel document, so I would certainly check with them.

Just come in via a Cargo ship illegally, seek asylum, and get given a free house for your effort.

I live in NL and had to post my renewal application to the consulate in Paris for a recent renewal. The process for the whole of mainland Europe I believe. It came back within a week of being sent, which was shockingly efficient. Was a bit costly though of course
