The other half has just received a NIP saying she was "revenue generated" eg Gatso'd doing 38 in a 30.
Just after an idea of what she can expect?

No idea but it will be 3 points and anything from £60. I have just bought the Origin Blue i speed cam (ermm accident black spot) detection system. VERY impressed. Even picks up the mobile ones on the motorways (the ones they place in to 50's).
Commiserations & good luck

At the end of the day these camera detectors should take off in a big way and we should support them so they come down in price and maybe manufacturers even add them to model specs. If as the police say they want us to reduce speeds in accident black spots then thats what these devices will do - but at the same time cut out their revenue generating machine. Surely theyd be better off giving us all £50 towards an origin blue or geodesy.

Usual stuff... did she receive it within 14days of the incident?
If not then send it back...
Write and ask for the evidence which is your right...
I presume it just asks who was driving etc? as they used to offer you say 3points and £60 is you send it back or you can go to court if you want...
There are lots of websites with info on Speedtrap bible for example with lots of help and advice Speed trap Bible such as :
Extract from Speedtrap.co.uk:
I have recently been flashed by a Gatso camera, what happens next? The Police have 14 days to send you a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP). They also get an allowance of a couple of days for the post to deliver it. So if its more than 17days since you were flashed they are too late to prosecute you, unless you were driving a company car, hire car or someone elses car. In these circumstances they are allowed more time to track you down.
I have received a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) through the post and I want to know what to do?
If you know that you broke the speed limit and its inside the "14" day rule, then its easier to accept the offer of a £60 fine and 3 points. If you feel strongly enough about the abuse of Gatso's as revenue generating tools - rather than safety tools - then you could go to court. If enough people did this then it would totally clog up the system and it would fall over - however being British and too reserved - this is unlikely to happen. If you already have points on your licence and the points from this will take you to 12 points or more, then you could get banned and we would suggest that you take legal advice to prevent/mitigate this.
The Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) arrived outside of the "14" day period. You should be able to get the prosecution dropped - get our lawyers to write you a legal letter and it should go away.
They also say that for 38 in a 30 you are looking at a Fixed penalty i.e. 3points and £60 fine...
Good luck

WOW - thanks JGM
Yep - she did receive it within 14 days Was last Wednesday!!
It is merely asking who was driving and no mention of fine or points, also says that if it goes to court they will supply photographic evidence, although I might request this anyway?????
Don't think there much point contesting it or going to court, will just accept the fine and points - much much less hassle!!
Cheers

You cant have the evidence unless you go to court.
I got done 2 months ago for 45 in a 30 on the A2 in London.
First time i'd ever driven there & wasnt sure where i was going. Ended up in the RH lane approaching an island (100yds) where i was to turn left. No cars infront, loads behind, so booted it to get across. FLASH.
Got the letter asking who was driving on the 15th day (they are allowed posting time on top of the 14 days, plus its a company car so had taken a few extra days to get the info - which they are allowed). Sent it off, recieved an offer of £60 and 3 points and took it.
Was slightly scared as i could have been up to around 60mph for the 4-5 seconds that i booted it for.
Have now bought myself a Geodesy Plus. Got it for £360 with a Honda-R club discount.
