Default Austerity bites.

Was lucky enough to get a pay rise this year. I know many didn't.

Back dated to Jan 1st, pay slip dropped through the door this morning.

An extra £153 net. My pay rise was £159 per month, gross.

**** that for a tax band!!!

I dont get it. You're getting an extra £153 in your pocket each month and you're complaining

I just got mine through, back-dated to 1st October. Increase of 0.5%, which is about £12 a month net.

I just got my letter today with my wage slip.

0% wage rise. Then driving home I noticed that Diesel had gone up another 2p a litre since I last tanked up. Brilliant.

I got 5%, but wouldn't call it a rise - more an adjustment with inflation running at that level!

Most people are getting a pay decrease in real terms

I got a significant pay increase in Nov 2010 as I sat down with my MD and explained that I couldn't continue working at my current rate of pay. I checked my payslips from back in 2007 and with the same company I was earning on average an extra £400 per month.

Times are grim I tell yee!

**** poor rise in 2008 & nowt since rises are due in May & I'm not holding my breathe for 2011

TX.

PS

Many will be worse off this month too as although the tax free allowance increased, they dropped the starting rate for 40% & added another 1% on NI ...

I didn't get a pay rise or an increment this/last year, so I have no sympathy, sorry. Though I did pay less tax and less NI this month than last due to new tax band.

Unhappy

I'm a grand worse of this year as commission pays large part of my salary and no end of years bonus too

Most people in the company are down too

Good times are over thanks to the mess the UK is in and petrol is £50more a month then 2years ago.

I had a small % increase but then the lowering of the 40% threshold means that I am only £50 per month richer. However, my wife (a teacher) has had her hours cut to 3 days per week so as a family, we might have to go to Krug from Cristal.

I got 6% last year and I'd better get the same this year too!!

Why? well - thanks to the Tories, inflation is running at 5% ... I have to pay extra into my pension every month (to get the SAME out as I was going to get in years past) - are you listening striking Teachers?

NI is up 1% and the Tax Band has dropped so more of my pay is in the 40% Tax Band!!

A 6% rise is the MINIMUM I should receive just to stay still ... thanks Tories!!

And what if your company has not increased it's profit by that amount?

If you are working, at whatever rate, consider yourselves lucky.

Last June, the company I was working for was liquidated. It took 3 months to get another job. I was then laid off just before Christmas. I am still looking now, and the future isn't bright.

I worked in IT management and it would seem there are so many people applying for each job that employers can be extremely choosy.

I have applied for a digital tacho to work as a lorry driver as I have a wedding and honeymoon to pay for this summer.

Some of the replies on here, I'm excluding PSL from that, put things into perspective a little. Which is never a bad thing so thanks to all. Hope things work out for everyone.

Didn't you say a while ago that you would not vote Labour any more because they had messed up your pension?

They didn't mess my Pension up - they walked away from a long agreement and tore up the paper which said I had a copper bottomed guarantee that my Pension would be every bit as good as it was in 1993!! The back stabbing b4stards!!!

But, you see, Les ... a cheating Labour Government is much better than a Tory Government filled with snobs who wouldn't know a hard days work if they got it smacked in their faces!!

All I ask for is a government with people who remember that they were elected to run this country for the sake of its people instead of furthering their own careers at the expense of the people, reneging on their election promises, and apparently being quite happy to hand this country to the dogs in exchange for their own selfish reasons.

I cannot see how anyone can ever accept a government of acknowledged cheats.
