Default Best website to build an online shop

I am looking to build a website / Webshop and I want to accept payments online. Can someone recommend me a good place to get me started.

I have used Vista print before and they are easy to set up but they don't look that great. You can also only use Paypal to accept payments.

Anyone here got a shop I can look at? Any advice would be great?

Thanks

It depends how much work you want to put in.

We are just building a website using OpenCart ( http://www.opencart.com ) and quite a lot of it is out of the box. We also looked at hosted solutions like http://www.123-reg.co.uk/ecommerce/ but wanted a bit more control.

This is the unfinished site ( http://www.jonatural.com/shop/ ) and we currently have done nothing to the code, just added products and reskinned it. We WILL need to configure PayPal and any other merchants that we wish to use and that will probably require some PHP programming.

My missus uses 'create'.

http://www.create.net/

She is pretty computer savvy, but had little experience of website design beforehand. She rates it highly and has found it pretty easy to sort out

I would very strongly advise anyone going down this route to ensure whatever type of site you build you OWN that site and you can host it on any domain that you OWN. Anything else is most likely going to end up in disaster. You do not want to end up in the situation where you are totally locked into one particular provider that you cannot move away from.

I've personally made a few shops, one such example is:
www.teessidekungfu.co.uk

This was based on wordpress, so not a dedicated ecommerce site as there is plenty of other information on this site.

Check out Joomla - is an open source CMS system and you can tie in shopping cart modules relatively easily
