I know of a business park that has had the steel drain covers nicked 2 times, and a few houses have had the lead nicked from roofs etc..
As for beer cans bet you got to save a few to get that £450.00

As well as new Lift installations i also carry out the "rip outs" of old Lifts from time to time. We make some bloody good money from the scap( a nice cash injection on top of the rip out price)....... nice clean stainless, Copper windings from the lift motors and a nice phosphorous bronze crown wheel hiding inside the gearbox...all the other metal is weighed in as shearing.
Its safe to say i love rip outs!

i ve got a customer with 2 scrap yards. he swaps his 'going to work' merc with me at least twice a year for a change, has an SLS, a 458 and a few other nice bits. he works his bollox off but enjoys his cars and tends to buy them outright...............but is he happy? with his car collection and his fit wife, probably!!

We get tatters driving round this entire area on a daily basis.
They are taking the p**s now as they now have a PA system playing a tape/CD with a infinte loop of continuous shouting of "Aye-Urrrrn, Anyeee scrap aye-urrrrn, or what you think is steeeel or aluminiuuuuuuuum".
So if someone can afford to drive a LDV/Transit pickup at 5mph all day everyday, there has to be some money in it. Bearing in mind doing 5mph all day equates to about 8mpg with these things (unless they are running on red diesel or veggy oil)
They are breaking noise laws as well because IIRC ice cream vans aren't allowed to continuously play music. If I knew which caravan they lived in, I'd torch it

We used to have a Rag and Bone man who used to come down the road once a week on his horse and cart. At least he used to call by himself rather than a loudspeaker. I still remember the "Rahh-Bo" call, it was part of life then.

Historically the phrase referred to an individual who would travel the streets of a city with a horsedrawn cart, and would collect old rags (for converting into fabric and paper), bones for making glue, scrap iron and other items, often trading them for other items of limited value.
