Default Advice on private number plates.

1. The ones you see for sale are either on retention, or available for transfer. Is either preferable, and do you only pay £80 to put it on yours.
2. Is that a one off charge only.
3. Whats the best place to buy one. Its only to hide the age, and have something to keep long term.

Newreg.com do dateless plates starting at £140 ........... don't get sucked into buying the plates themselves from them though.

I don't remember how much I paid, if the plate is on retention then the seller has paid for that.

If i bought a plate on Ebay or Gumtree, what do i need to see from the seller to make sure its genuine. I'd rather not be scammed.

I sent the buyer a photo of the certificate and let them pay with paypal, I did this twice in the past 6 months and both buyers were happy
