Anyone else ever taken a Vax to bits?
Just bought a 6131, cheap, off e-bay, one broken clip, less than a year old.
Those things are ENGINEERED! Every bit you remove reveals the next screw or bolt, or holds in place the next bit. Just taken me an hour to get it in bits. Will take about ten minutes to reassemble now I know

the vax i have (deluxe xl or something like that) is simple to take apart, done it on numerous occasions now. I actually take the tank apart to clean it as flushing alone doesnt do it

I was stumped for ages, the clip I wanted to replace looked like you OUGHT to get at it from the bottom, but there was no way in
I found one philips screw down a hole, but no others, and the topof the handle WOULD NOT come off
Eventually found another screw under the voltage label on top, and away I went.......

Built like a tank: got a Vax 2000. I use it to unblock drains
This unit dates back from the day when VAX were still British owned (they are still British based but are Chinese owned )
However the other office has a more modern Vax machIII cyclone; Essentially a Dyson clone.
I've took it apart and it does indeed copy Dyson's root 8 cyclone thingy, but they added/removed a few bits to get round patents (like having 7 cyclone tube instead of 8 )...problem is, it doesn't work. The cyclone tubes clog and most of the dust goes straight into the filter. Unlike the Dysons where most of it stays in the dust canister. Its also very difficult/messy to wash out with the hose pipe - unlike the Dyson. Hence it being replaced by my much older DC04 from home.
