Hiding speaker cable suggestions
I'm going to be setting up my home cinema equipment at the new place tomorrow. The only problem is, its got a wooden floor and I'm struggling to work out how to cost effectively hide speaker cables running to the rear of the room. Not only do i need it to be cost effective but also easily removable as I only intend to be in the place for 6months/year.
I have been thinking of using some sort of beading along the skirting boards but haven't seen anything nice.
Any suggestions?

I had the same quandry a year back, albeit a carpet atop concrete. Ended up cutting a channel in the concrete and laying the cable into it with a plastic sleeve to allow "access" if need be. The issue I have now is a perceptible electric buzz at low volumes - despite shielded cables. You should see the rats nest behind the TV / AV though! It's horrendous. TV, Xbox, Wii, Slingplayer, HD Player, DVD, CD, SKY +, Archos, Turtle Beach X4 etc - I've not got the energy to fix it - I just turn the volume up
Good luck - I mean that!!!

Nah, the plan is to convert it into two double bedrooms with a W/C and shower room for the kids in a few years, with a utility and storage too, taking it from a 3 bed (2dbl/1sgl) 1 bath, to a 4 (dbl) bed 3 bath (inc master en-suite). Should up the value a little, and mean the upstairs is just for us with an en-suite, (dbl) guest bed/gym/office/whatever and family bathroom. I also have plans for the attic becoming a roof terrace

Much better I managed to shorten the speaker cables where necessary and lay the cables flat so it's not a fire hazard. Also separated power and speaker cables etc. So I haven't noticed any interference.

That Maplin stuff is chavtastic..Probably made by the same people for people that put a bead around there skirting boards for laminate flooring..
Its a quick and simple solution but will look kack, and looks only thick enough to hide bellwire, and decent audio cable wouldnt be able to fit inside that, never mind 2 runs of it.
Lift off the skirtings, its easy enough and conceal everything behind. Easy and classy solution.

Go wireless. You can pick up a transmitter which you plug into the HC speaker outputs, it then transmits the signals to another box which you plug your speaker cables in to.
